Consolation Prizes

Some Beautiful Consolation Prizes

Scifi/Fantasy conventions are, if not the most, then one of the most hard-hit of “industries” by the pandemic has been conventions. They essentially went out of existence in 2020 and many of them will take years to recover … if they recover and resume at all.

So, to add to the effects of the Concellation 2021 FB group – a group as ragtag, chaotic, and eclectic as any Con, Gods bless them – here’s a grouping of cosplay babes for our mutual enjoyment.

All Those “Silly” Fears

Klugman - Dangerous Idiot
Finally admits he was dead wrong on globalism

Paul Klugman, Nobel laureate economist, and deeply entrenched and enriched pundit has always been an arrogant git who loved to lambast and excoriate any critics of globalism – what his school of economics called “Global Capitalism” – as fools and their fears as silly. His position, defended from on high, was that we should not worry about it. He said that unrestricted trade will have, at the very most, only a very minor negative impact on our people’s prosperity and posterity.

Well, that was then and this is now. Klugman has finally admitted that the large number of people whom he thought didn’t understand macroeconomics very well and who were silly were right and he and his fellow Globalist Keynesians were utterly and totally wrong.

To make a long and convoluted story short and – possibly overly – simple: Despite vast numbers of people warning otherwise, Klugman and his fellow travelers both fervently believed that manufacturing moving to Third World nations, e.g., China, would perforce raise wages in those countries, thereby raising the costs of the manufactured goods close enough to those domestically produced so as not to upheave the market greatly. They also grossly underestimated how much and how often corporations would take advantage of both the amazingly low-cost labor pools and tax benefits of such off-shored manufacturing.

In other words, Klugman and Co. arrogantly derided those people who warned them of what globalism would cause and they were completely wrong in doing so. Those “silly” fears turned out to be not so silly after all.

For The Little Guy

Biden's For The Little Guy ... Not!
Biden’s For The Little Guy … Not!

The Biden-Harris campaign wants voters to buy into the fiction that they’re for the little guy and not for Big Business, despite their campaign being funded and supported by Hollywood, Big Tech, and a plethora of really big money donors. But then, that’s the standard Democrat campaign model, i.e., the standard, oft-repeated lie that they try to sell the voters in every single election.

No! The one who is rather ironically the candidate “for the little guy” is the billionaire, President Donald Trump. His policies have been largely targeted at improving their lot in life, and have shown more than a little success. Of course, that is either unreported, misreported, or called racist, populist, and/or nationalist by both the Dems and their media shills.

To further that irony to levels of absurdity that can only be reached in American politics, this all simply means that Biden is a normal, professional, establishment politician – Democrat or Republican – and President Trump is the statistical outlier who represents “Hope and Change!” 😆

Anarchist NYC

NYC Is Formally Declared An Anarchist City

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has declared New York City, along with Portland and Seattle, as “Anarchist Jurisdictions” due to their local governments having permitted violence and destruction of property to persist and having refused to undertake reasonable measures to counteract criminal activities within their borders.

[sic] … in New York City, city officials have allowed violence to spike. In late May and early June, State and local officials allowed looting to take place for over a week, resulting in damage to an estimated 450 businesses. As of August 16, there have been 896 shootings in New York this year, compared to 492 shootings during the same period last year. The shooting victims include children as young as 1 year old. Shootings have been rising in recent weeks, and police reported 244 shootings last month compared to 88 in July 2019 — a 177 percent increase. While violence has surged, arrests have plummeted. In a 28-day period during the months of June and July, arrests were down 62 percent from the same period in 2019. Amidst the rising violence, Mayor Bill de Blasio and the New York City Council agreed to cut one billion dollars from the New York Police Department (NYPD) budget, including by canceling the hiring of 1,163 officers. In June, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea disbanded the NYPD’s plainclothes anti-crime units, which target illegal guns and violent crime. Police officials have cited this decision as a factor contributing to the rise in violence. In light of this unconscionable rise in violence, I have offered to provide Federal law enforcement assistance, but both Mayor de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo have rejected my offer.

Memorandum on Reviewing Funding to State
and Local Government Recipients That Are Permitting
Anarchy, Violence, and Destruction in American Cities

This isn’t just idle words either. De Blasio’s outright refusal to maintain law and order and his and his family’s outright, over support for the race rioters of #BlackLivesMatter may well cost NYC more than $7 billion federal grant monies in fiscal 2021 alone. That would be approximately 7.5% of the NYC government’s total expected revenues. And that will be coming on top however much damage the Blacks and their enablers end up costing the city and the $9 billion loss in tax revenue the city faces due to de Blasio’s and Cuomo’s response to COVID-19.

Those of us living in NYC will soon see just how much de Blasio, Cuomo, and their constituencies in #BlackLivesMatter, #Antifa, and other Democrat cells have cost us. The director of the Office of Management and Budget has 30 days to issue guidance to federal agencies on restricting eligibility for federal grants for the cities on the DOJ’s list.

Coronavirus In Context

Coronavirus In Context
Coronavirus In Context

Yes! Let’s put COVID-19 and the Coronavirus in a purely objective context, paired against our more normal and largely here in the West ignored lethal diseases. COVID-19 daily kills 1.85% of what tuberculosis kills and, more significantly here in the West, COVID-19 kills only 5.45% of the seasonal flu kills each and every day during flu season.

Now, I’m not saying to take no precautions whatsoever, I wasn’t even against a short-term lock-down in heavily infected areas, e.g., my own New York City. The lasting panic and resultant “protective measures” enacted by some in government seem ridiculous though – worse than ridiculous, dangerous.

Think of the precedent that’s we’ve allowed being set in that same purely objective context. Does anyone really believe that these same government bodies won’t expand their actions to “combating” the ever-so more lethal seasonal flu, especially if a coronavirus vaccine isn’t in widespread use before flu season starts in approx. 4 months?
