Separate But Equal doesn’t always means what you think it means and it doesn’t always refer to previous attempts to protect the Races from each other and each other’s cultures. 😉
Yeah, though they seem utterly unrelated promises, there’s really no difference between a fishing man’s “One last cast,” and woman’s “I’ll be five minutes.” In either case, it means in all truth that you’re going to be there waiting for a fair bit of time. Five minutes, one last cast – same ol’, same ol’.
If it is an ill wind that blows nobody any good, then the coronavirus, COVID-19 is not an ill wind. It has blown us some good along with the bad. This pandemic has blown us some both Corona QTs and a reevaluation of the best and most proper use for businesswear.
It’s a simple truth; Corona QTs aka COVID QTs are good things and are also examples of the resilience and plasticity of Western Culture. These women showed the world that they can and have not only adapted but turned the pandemic into their own niche space.
And, the COVID-19 pandemic and insanely restrictive countermeasures enacted to “flatten the curve” also taught us how to best use what used to be our businesswear. The situation, bad as it is, has blown many of us the good of teaching us – re-teaching/reminding those of us who are older – that such clothing is an investment.
So, given the plethora of very, very fine evidence presented above, it’s safe to say that COVID-19 is far from an ill wind since it has blown many of us much good along with the horrifically bad, 😉
Fishing, it’s a thing – a great thing and a great thing to love. Well, to the sane people among us at least; others, not so much. Great or not though, it underscores a lot of the key differences in outlook between the two primary ideologies in the US.
Who’s shaking the jar? Somebody has to be shaking it! There has to be some spider in its web and/or some shadowy cabal pulling the strings for their own nefarious ends. Or, so says one variety of common wisdom. A variety I choose to call Tinfoil Wisdom.
With the exception of the Lamestream Media, who shakes things up for their own profit as much as any agenda, there doesn’t have to be any shadowy figure “shaking the jar.” Certain sorts are quite capable of behaving heinously without manipulative instigation. They’re just that bad all on their own.
This is unfortunately the curse of being sentient. We’re built to make use of pattern recognition and, hence, we’re susceptible to false pattern recognition aka Apophenia. We are, as Klaus Conrad wrote, prone to the unmotivated seeing of connections accompanied by a specific feeling of abnormal meaningfulness and to engaging in self-referential, over-interpretations of what we see and hear.
There doesn’t have to be some spider in its web and/or some shadowy cabal pulling the strings for their own nefarious ends. With the ease of communication and the resultant online “echo chambers,” we’re quite capable of producing conflicts organically.
Of course, all that said, that doesn’t mean that sometimes, at some various levels, that there isn’t someone “shaking the jar.” It just means that there doesn’t have to be and that we should jump to the conclusion that there is. Sometimes, probably the majority of times, that “Shaker” didn’t start the shit; they just enabled existing troublemakers in order to profiteer off of them.
