Reared For Immortality

Joseph Story, who served on the Supreme Court of the United States from 1811 to 1845, is best known outside of legal circle for his magisterial treatise of US Constitution, Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States, which was first published in 1833 and, to this day, is considered one of seminal publications on the highest and most fundamental sets of American law and jurisprudence.

In all truth, Justice Story’s various writings but most especially his Commentaries, should be required reading in schools. Sadly however, I have never even heard about it being on an optional reading list.

Then this oversight might be explained by Story’s own words in Book II (2nd edition and later) of his Commentaries:

If these Commentaries shall but inspire in the rising generation a more ardent love of their country, an unquenchable thirst for liberty, and a profound reverence for the constitution and the union, then they will have accomplished all that their author ought to desire. Let the American youth never forget that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors; and capable, if wisely improved, and faithfully guarded, of transmitting to their latest posterity all the substantial blessings of life, the peaceful enjoyment of liberty, property, religion, and independence. The structure has been erected by architects of consummate skill and fidelity; its foundations are solid; its compartments are beautiful as well as useful; its arrangements are full of wisdom and order; and its defenses are impregnable from without. It has been reared for immortality, if the work of man may justly aspire to such a title. It may, nevertheless, perish in an hour by the folly, or corruption, or negligence of its only keepers, THE PEOPLE. Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people in order to betray them.

If the Commentaries accomplished all that their author ought to desire, America would never have reached a point when and where what passes for our educational system did not include the work in the curriculum. Now, our nation having reached the point when and where it is only the profligate who are rewarded, Justice Story’s work is antithetical to ideology that the school system wants to inculcate in the rising generation.

After all, since the 1960s the schools system has been more and more striving to teach the American youth to forget that they possess a noble inheritance, bought by the toils, and sufferings, and blood of their ancestors. Indeed, quite the opposite is taught now in what passes for our public schools.

And therein is meat of the problem. America’s domestic enemies know and capitalize upon the fact that America has been reared for immortality, but that it may perish in an hour by the folly, or corruption, or negligence of its only keepers, the People.

School House Rap

OK, to start with, there’s no rap in this video. I used “Rap” in this post’s title solely because rap is a unique Black corruption of music, which plays well with Obama’s unique corruption of the office of President. 😉

That being said, this video of Saturday Night Live’s mockery of Obama’s executive orders and how they are designed to overturn the law as enacted by Congress is hilarious.

SNL’s School House Rock Mocks Obama’s Executive Thuggery

SNL’s bit of sketch comedy aptly mocks and lampoon’s the boy’s overreach, would-be tyranny, and general thuggery as it pertains to immigration and Obama’s disregard for both the law and the constitutionally mandated limits on executive power. Rarely has SNL delivered such a well-deserved bit of disrespect for the man holding the office of POTUS.

Making Law Under The Obama Regime
Making Law Under The Obama Regime

The thing is that Obama has never much concerned himself with the law. Frankly, the boy seems to hold the law in contempt, enforcing it or not as he sees fit and changing said laws via executive fiat whenever he so chooses to.

This makes Obama worthy of mockery, disrespect, despite, and disdain…at a bare bones minimum that represents more truly Americans’ tolerance and tendency to give the hand-out of excuses to America’s First Black President than anything else.

It Has A Familiar Look

A photo by George Roelofson of WTHN showing a long line of Connecticut residents waiting to register their guns and ammunition to avoid the state from declaring their legally purchased property illegal contraband has gone viral and is rightly sending chills down the backs of some gun owners.

CT Gun & Ammo Registration Line
It Has A Familiar Look

The unhappy shades of Weimar Germany seems to be haunting Connecticut, warning any and all who can remember that sad period in history of just what such registrations can lead to. Given America’s current economic straits, which also bear some resemblance to the Weimar Republic, and the current Regime’s vilification of certain propertied classes and groups, such warnings may well be such as to be heeded by the wise.

Yep, We’ve Seen Queues Like That Before

History has already given us a stark lesson in how one sort of government mandated queue can easily lead another, worse sort. First it’s the registration and restriction of citizens’ firearms; later it’s possibly the registration of “undesirable” citizens.

Police Beating
The Consequence Of Unchecked Authority

Even if one chooses to deny that “it could happen in America,” it’s very hard to deny that a disarmed and cowed citizenry consolidates power in the form of force in the hands of the State and its enforcers. We certainly don’t need to run afoul of Godwin to warn of where that can lead. US and world history as well as both domestic and international news and currents events should be enough to make it clear that the police, when left unchecked, are as dangerous to society as the criminals they are meant to deal with.

So yes! There’s plenty of reason for Roelofson’s photo to both “go viral” and to strike a chord of fear and worry in the hearts and minds of freedom-loving Americans.

Reasonable Restrictions

The Liberals and Progressives do not truly believe in the absolute authority of the Constitution. They, in their quest to disarm large segments of the American citizenry, constantly strive for there to be enacted “reasonable restrictions” upon the 2nd Amendment.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

— US Constitution, 2nd Amendment

Liberals and Progressives just can’t seem to understand the meaning of either, “the People” or “Shall not be infringed.”

To be fair, social conservatives & the religious right have an equally poor understanding of, “Bear arms” and “Shall not be infringed” when it comes to queers and women in the military.

The Left is, not wholly undeservedly, shocked and appalled by the violent crime rates in America and the force multiplier that firearms provide to the criminal classes. Hence, they are more than willing to violate the natural rights of Americans in order to provide the appearance of greater security to the people as a whole.

[sic]…if there is a step we can take that will save even one child from what happened in Newtown, we should take that step.

This is, at its core, a case of consequentialism trumping deontology. It is also a case of blaming the tools for actions of those who use them. Worse, it doesn’t even begin to address the underlying problems of violence and crime within America’s borders.

Their logic would be better used, insofar as utility and effect is concerned, by apply the Liberals’ and Progressives’ pogrom to the “Black Community.” Blacks, who only make up approximately 13% of the US population, are disproportionately represented in the “criminal classes.” They consistently account for:

  • 50% of the homicides;
  • 45% of the violent crimes;
  • 39% of the overall crimes in the US;
  • and 28% of the repeat / career criminals.

Given these figures, if “reasonable restrictions” are going to be placed upon Constitutional rights, America would be far better served by restricting the freedoms enumerate in the 13 Amendment as opposed to the 2nd Amendment.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

— US Constitution, 13th Amendment, Section 1

America could slash its crime rate, especially its violent crime rate, by simply utilizing penal servitude and putting the criminal Blacks back in chains and putting them to the work that Americans instead rely upon illegal immigrants and foreign labor to perform.

Upon Some Freedom Is Worse Than Wasted

Even better, unlike the Left’s attacks upon the sanctity of the 2nd Amendment, no such attack upon the 13th Amendment is needed. It already contains the exception that the government, be it Federal or State, continues to have the right to hold slaves if such slavery was enacted as a punishment for a crime.

If there is a step we can take that will save even one child from what happens regularly in Chicago, we should take that step.

There is no reasonable and/or rational doubt that, if we’re to abridge the liberties enumerated in- and protected by the Constitution for the laudable sake of public safety and security, such abridgements need to be effective. Returning those Blacks who cannot or will not become a viable facet of American society to slavery would be vastly more effective than trying to disarm law abiding American citizens.

And, once again in order to drive home one the more salient points of this argument, these proposed “reasonable restriction” on the freedoms Blacks enjoy thanks to the 13th Amendment don’t require that the amendment in question be changed or violated.

Are You Offended?

If you’re an American – or a total foreigner to America reading this article from afar – and you’re offended by it, I’m glad; it’s an utterly offensive though, likely, effective idea. Conversely, if you’re on of America’s domestic enemies, the Liberals and Progressives, you’ve neither the right nor the privilege of being offended by it as this is just the application of your own logic to a different Amendment of the Constitution than the ones you and your sort normally attack.

Be Armed With Information

My fellow Americans, knowledge is power so be armed with information to use in this stage of our war with America’s domestic enemies. By being properly educated you can defeat all the various spurious arguments that the Liberals and Progressives regularly use in their attempts to disarm the American citizenry.

Homocide Statistics By Weapon
A Weapon Guide For The Uninformed

Be forewarned though that this information is solely for bolstering your own position and confidence in it. Liberals and Progressives are not only uninformed of homicide statistics by class of weapon, they’re uninformable of such. Bludgeon them with facts – for now – in order to silence them, but don’t expect them to learn anything.
