McConnell Switched Parties?

Is it the case that Mitch McConnell Switched Parties quietly? Because the drivel he’s spouting sure sounds like the bullshit coming out of the Dems’ holes. Because I’ve sure as Hell haven’t heard any Republicans claiming that aiding in Biden’s war against Putin was a priority at all, much less the highest one. That’s Dem talk and pretty much only Dem talk. We’ve got far more important concerns than trying to start WW3 to balk President Trump’s return to office.

Or, as it a bit more likely, McConnell is just setting up his preconditions and rationalizations for a bunch of earmarks he’s getting ready to add to the upcoming Defense Appropriation Bill so as to support companies in his state which are part of the Military Industrial Complex. 😉

Shovel Ready

Remember back just after the 2008 elections when Obama and the Liberals who were ruling Congress at that time rammed the Stimulus through and spent nearly a trillion dollars of our money on the strength of “shovel ready job?”

Shovel Ready Jobs
Shovel Ready Jobs?

As was to be expected, they failed to find any meaningful number of “shovel ready jobs” and Obama had to tap dance back away from that lie and start talking about jobs that would have supposedly been lost without that massive funding a various pork barrel projects and hand-outs to Democrat voting blocs.

Open Grave
We Found An Opening For Obama And The Democrats

Of course, they did manage to find shovel ready jobs for themselves – digging their own graves. The sooner the American people force Obama and his cronies to fill these openings – metaphorically of course – the better off America will be.

Instilling Fear

In any society that hopes to maintain its liberty and avoid tyranny it is necessary for its people to instill fear in its political leadership. In best case scenarios this needs only be the fear of the consequences of misbehavior. In other all too common situations it is necessary to fill the politicians with the fear of reprisals by the people.

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.

– Attributed to Thomas Jefferson

America is at a point where it is dealing with a middle case scenario where politicians need to be instilled with a combination of preventative and punitive fears.

Instilling Fear In DC
An Honest Man With A Higher Purpose Is Terrifying To Some

Fortunately, Americans have exercised some of the means at their disposal to instill the needed fear in the political elite. They banded together as the TEA Parties and elected representatives to Congress who were of strong purpose and character.

In the degenerate system that America’s federal government has devolved into, honest and patriotic men an women who have chosen to shoulder the burden of providing correction to that system and who are willing to disregard the personal cost to themselves for doing so are an acute source of fear for all the professional politicians who are heavily invested, often literally, in maintaining the current broken status quo.

Nothing scares professional politicians more than actual statesmen, and nothing scares the Liberals and Progressives more than American statesmen, even though they whine and rant when their own sort don’t behave similarly.

Pimp Smacking Obama

Some days are better than others. Any day when a Republican Senator remembers what he stands for and defies the will of a Liberal President such as Barack Obama irrespective of the cost to himself is one of the better days. Today was one of those days.

Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) has withdrawn his Cabinet nomination as Secretary of Commerce because he couldn’t bring himself to serve America as the Secretary of Commerce in the wake of Obama’s, Pelosi’s, and Reid’s stimulus bill.

I want to thank the President for nominating me to serve in his Cabinet as Secretary of Commerce. This was a great honor, and I had felt that I could bring some views and ideas that would assist him in governing during this difficult time. I especially admire his willingness to reach across the aisle.

However, it has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me. Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy.

Obviously the President requires a team that is fully supportive of all his initiatives.

I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership, but at this time I must withdraw my name from consideration for this position.

As we move forward, I expect there will be many issues and initiatives where I can and will work to assure the success of the President’s proposals. This will certainly be a goal of mine.

Kathy and I also want to specifically thank Governor Lynch and Bonnie Newman for their friendship and assistance during this period. In addition we wish to thank all the people, especially in New Hampshire, who have been so kind and generous in their supportive comments.

As a further matter of clarification, nothing about the vetting process played any role in this decision. I will continue to represent the people of New Hampshire in the United States Senate.

— Sen. Judd Gregg
Via Real Clear Politics

Sen Gregg might have well as pimp smacked President Obama; that would have been an equally clear sign that Republicans aren’t going to sit idly by while Obama and his liberal, socialist cronies sell America down the river with their pork-laden spending bill that will leave our grandchildren indentured to the Chinese and other foreigners.

Various Liberal pundits, talking heads and the inevitable horde of raving liberal bloggers – in honesty, that last must be said as opposed to the raving conservative bloggers – will put forth all sorts of vile and selfish reasons for Senator Gregg’s recusing himself from the nomination for Secretary of Commerce. IMHO that is because they have little or no understanding of principles and principled behavior that is done at cost to ones’ self.

More On Earmarks

Hillary Clinton According to a report from the LA Times, since becoming New York’s junior Senator in 2001, Hillary Clinton has provided $500 million of earmarks that have specifically benefited 59 corporations. Approximately 64% of those corporations have provided funds to her campaigns through donations made by employees, executives, board members or lobbyists. Since Clinton arrived in the Senate, she has collected in excess of $1 million from earmark beneficiaries and their associates.

Clinton’s staff has maintained that she used the earmark privilege effectively for her constituents and denied any connection between her legislative action and campaign contributions.

In total Clinton has earmarked more than $2.3 billion in federal appropriations for projects in New York since her election to the Senate, much of it for public works projects funded in conjunction with fellow Democratic Sen. Charles E. Schumer and others in the New York congressional delegation.
