Healthcare Changes

It’s a fact that ObamaCare was designed to fundamentally change America’s healthcare options. In that it has, so far, been completely successful. The new ObamaCare paradigm, barely as yet even implemented, has already created great changes in Americans’ healthcare and health insurance options…

Obamacare ParadigmHealthcare Changes – The ObamaCare Paradigm

Of course, for the vast number of people within America’s borders who are just “normal people” sweeping fundamental changes are often more painful than otherwise. Changes wrought by politicians are even more so.

But let’s not throw the tar baby out with the bath water. ObamaCare has created thousands of jobs. Just look at the provision for 16,000 new IRS agents to enforce and collect the fines for not having an approved health insurance policy…whether you can use the governments’ websites to get one or not.

Perilous Exceptionalism

Former US Secretary of State Condoleeza RiceOn Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at the 2012 Republican National Convention Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice took the podium and delivered a rousing speech that brought the crowd to their feet and kept them there throughout her oration.

Her focus on the incredible opportunities America presents and the extraordinary goodness of America was a stark contrast to Obama’s normal complaints about the country and its people.

It was an awesome speech and you can read a transcript of it here. One statement in it, however, stood out and still stands out in my mind, and it’s likely not the point that Ms. Rice would want anyone to focus upon as her speech was largely positive in nature.

Whenever you find yourself doubting us – just think of all the times that we have made the impossible seem inevitable in retrospect.

Ms. Rice spoke a great truth in that simple sentence. Yet, in it she has described the truly perilous exceptionalism of America. We are exceptional and we, as a unified people, have made made the impossible seem inevitable in retrospect. That can cut both ways though.

It has always seemed impossible to normal Americans that our country could sink into a entitlement state. Yet, in retrospect, it seems to have been inevitable. It has always seemed impossible to normal Americans that our country could become a semi-totalitarian nanny state. Yet, in retrospect, it seems have been inevitable. It has always seemed impossible to normal Americans that our societal morality could degenerate so far and in so many ways as it has. Yet, in retrospect, it seems to have been inevitable.

This is why America’s exceptionalism is so perilous. We as a people are so powerful and so dynamic that the seemingly impossible is made commonplace and this has fostered a complacency that may well doom us because we fail to understand that it can happen here.

It’s Basic Physics

It’s basic physics that the law of entropy requires that chaos and dissolution be the natural result of all uncontrolled processes. Most people have some understanding of that fact. What they don’t seem to understand is that the natural laws which govern physics have direct corollaries in almost all other things and systems. That includes entropy.

Change more often equates entropy than it does progress
Change More Often Equates Entropy Than It Does Progress

So when you see or hear people chanting about “change,” “progress,” or “moving forward” into a bright new age, remember that these people are most likely, knowingly or unwittingly, the agents of chaos, dissolution, and destruction. They serve entropy’s purposes, not those of people.

Progress v. Regress

There’s more than a little talk about Conservatives actually being regressive rather than merely conservative and there is, or at least should be, some truth to that claim because the opposing force to the Liberals and Progressives march to dissolution and dissipation cannot be an attempt to merely “hold the line.”

What Passes For Progressive Progress

It’s natural law that change is almost always entropic in nature and that most mutations are lethally negative. This, judging from Man’s history, holds true for societal functions as well.

One need only look at what the agendas of the Liberals and Progressives have wrought so far in order see the objective truth of this.

Go Back! We Fucked Up Everything!

Progress to a better societal state, as opposed to change for the sake of change in the hope that it’ll be better somehow, sometimes means accepting that you’re on the wrong road and turning back before you run off a cliff or become mired in a foetid swamp or tar pit. 😉

When you’re this far off course and heading towards disaster, you don’t just stop; you turn around and move the other way at speed. If that means refusing to be relegated to the backseat and taking the reins by force, so be it.

50 Years Of Decline

Once upon a time, long, long ago, in a nation far, far away from what is left of America of today, a POTUS admonished Americans to, “Ask not what your country can do for you- ask what you can do for your country.”

The intervening 50 years since President Kennedy issued those words have seen his bold admonishment not only ignored, but repudiated and spat upon.

Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You…Demand It!

Four decades of moral decline has left America filled with people who are not concerned about asking themselves how they can help the nation they’re supposedly loyal to, have past the point in decline where they instead ask what the nation can do for them, and now demand that the nation do for them what they should be doing for themselves.

Bread and Circuses is the cancer of democracy, the fatal disease for which there is no cure. Democracy often works beautifully at first. But once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader–the barbarians enter Rome.

— Lazarus Long aka Woodrow Wilson Smith
To Sail Beyond the Sunset (Heinlein, 1987)

Nor is this cancerous growth of the entitlement society limited to those stridently ranting masses of eaters and looters seeking a welfare state. The heads of corporations who should be the leaders of the productive members of society are no better. Their demands for subsidies and bail outs to make up their many failings are just entitlements and welfare under a different name.

This societal cancer is nothing new and is one of the most common reason for any state throughout history to have failed. Even Rome, the greatest empire in human history succumbed to it, though it took over 4 centuries to do so.

I truly fear that, without a bloody and painful reversal of course, America’s decline and fall will be measured in decades, not centuries.
