Reflections From a Murky Pond

As Americans have been forced to hear time and time again, the raison d’être for Obama’s one and only “achievement” as POTUS, ObamaCare was to provide health insurance to the uninsured and supposedly uninsurable. It was billed by Obama, the Liberals in Congress, and a complicit MSM as a strongly needed and desired reconstruction of the entire American health insurance industry.

The problem is that Obama, Liberals in Congress, the MSM, and the mis-educated Leftists throughout America were utterly, completely, and woefully wrong when push came to shove and ObamaCare was translated from fantastic theory to gritty reality.

The majority of the uninsured never wanted ObamaCare and, after dealing with the irresponsible failure that was its roll-out, even fewer of the uninsured say that they plan to use it.

• Only 22% of uninsured people in America have already or intend to purchase health insurance via the ObamaCare exchanges. This is a 50% drop from earlier polls in which a meager 44% said that they would do so.
• Only 30% of uninsured people in America are even familiar with the ObamaCare exchanges.

The poll’s results must be troubling for the Obama Regime and the Liberals, stating bluntly that uninsured Americans aren’t responding positively to the key part of Obamacare that’s critical to its success. This means that the upheaval of America’s health insurance and medical industries was not only unneeded but will only grow worse as the already high premiums of ObamaCare-approved insurance plans skyrocket even higher due to only the most needy and desperate, i.e., the most expensive to insure, being willing to use them.

Ill-thought and unwanted; that is what ObamaCare is and what it will remembered as by history.

Some surprising citizens of America understand this and are not afraid to make use ridicule in the attempt effect change and restore hope for the rebirth of America and the cessation of certain forms of destructive stupidity.

During the opening segment of the 2013 Country Music Awards (CMA), hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley did a hilarious skit and song about the abysmal but expected failure that has been the ObamaCare quasi-launch.

As you might guess, American viewers were laughing out loud at this lampooning of Obama’s signature and singular “achievement.” Contriwise, Liberals and their minority tenants – the few of the latter that actually watch the CMA show – were outraged.

The outrage is unsurprising. After all, this was a pair of country music performers – a quintessentially White and American musical genre – performing for an audience that is overwhelmingly equally White and American, is going to be declared as racists, knuckle-draggers, and with other epithets for lampooning any of Obama’s many failures.

Of course, the Liberals’ and minorities’ outraged response is just more evidence that ridicule is both effective and the best and only non-lethal weapon against Obama, his destructive foolishness, and his followers. 😉

Supposedly ObamaCare was going to bring health insurance to the unwashed masses and go a long way towards fixing the economic issues linked to the high costs of medical care that Americans subject themselves to. It was, according to Obama and the Liberals who forced through Congress, going to insure the uninsured and lower most everyone’s health insurance premiums while allowing everyone who liked the current coverage to keep it.

So far reality has cruelly exposed all of this as lies.

In fact, so far and with ObamaCare still in its infancy, it really looks like every single bit of the GOP’s “fear mongering” has turned out to cold, cruel, hard facts, facts that will likely grow more dire as other parts of the misbegotten ObamaCare chimera are brought online.

The New 30%

By far the worst outcome and the biggest lie was that Americans could keep their health insurance. It is estimated that 93 million Americans – approximately 30% of the nation’s population – will lose their current coverage due to ObamaCare and either be forced onto the much more expensive and less useful health insurance exchanges or half to pay significantly more for their new, ObamaCare-approved employer-subsidized plans (Which are now considered federally taxable income).

Obama’s various mouthpieces might try to claim that the only people being negatively effected are those Americans already buying health insurance on their own – even that’s still almost 16 million people! – but that’s just another lie told in support of their earlier, bigger lie.

Remember back when Obama said that, if you like your doctor, you’ll be able to keep your doctor after ObamaCare became the law? Well, a big, total and utter lack of surprise – the boy lied just as he’s lied about everything.

If you’re of the millions who have been or will be forced onto the ObamaCare exchanges, you’ll more than likely not be able to keep your doctor. This is simply because the majority of doctors don’t seem to want anything to do with ObamaCare, or so a poll conducted by the New York State Medical Society indicates.

It appears that just approximately 94% of the doctors do not desire to be included in Obama’s signature and singular “achievement.”

This lack of adoption of ObamaCare by the medical community has its roots in simple, pragmatic economics.  Only 23% of the doctors polled had been given a fee schedule to show much they’ll get paid if they sign up. This, of course, makes perfect sense.

Funny coincidence that. The matching numbers between those who’ve agreed to ObamaCare and those who’ve seen the fee schedule. Do you have to join in it to see what’s in it? 😉

Nor are the problem of a shortage of doctors or ObamaCare’s exacerbation of that problem a surprise; both solid, professional analysts and Liberal pundits have reported upon America’s current shortage of physicians and how, for a variety of systemic reasons, ObamaCare will make this worse – far, far, far worse.

Voodoo Healthcare – The Result Of ObamaCare

Approximately 40% of the doctors in America are reported to be suffering burn-out already, in no small part due to the fact that it is currently estimated by the Association of American Medical Colleges that America needed nationwide 13,700 more doctors of all types were needed than were available in 2010 and, with ObamaCare, this gap is expended to widen into a gaping chasm of a shortfall of 130,600 physicians by 2025.

So you’ll have health insurance; you’ll have to do so or face: fines, levies, wage garnishments, confiscation of personal property, and incarceration. After a great deal of searching and waiting you’ll even manage to get a few minutes with the gatekeeper of you healthcare, your primary care physician. The prognosis of the overall quality of that care, however, is not overly favorable nor is the expectations of how that will affect your health, wellness, and life expectancy.

But, of course, you’ll have technically exactly what Obama and the Liberals promised you – health insurance. The fact that you stand a good chance of suffering from sub-standard and/or limited medical care is largely irrelevant to those that foisted this ill-thought, chimeric abomination onto the backs of the American people.

America’s domestic enemies repeatedly screamed and ranted that, “Bush lied and People died” because the bulk of the data they heard from Iraq didn’t substantiate the intelligence reports that President Bush Jr. relied upon for decision making and which prompted America’s removal of Saddam Hussein.

Does any American believe for a moment that the Liberal and Progressive filth will similarly complain about Obama’s deadly lie? The boy repeated claimed, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan,” and that was a lie.

That was a lie to the tune of 7 million people in America who are expected to lose their employer-provided health insurance due to Obamacare.

The Congressional Budget Office now says that, because of Obamacare, 7 million people will lose their employer-provided health insurance and have to go get coverage on their own.

Now, since the Leftists have harped and whined that the loss of such coverage dooms people to antagonizing death, they should, if they held to any set of normative principles and logic, be screaming their lungs out that, “Obama lied and people died!” But they won’t because, not being what they’ve decided are racists, they hold Obama to a different and much lower standard of behavior and ability.

To be fair though, those 7 million people who are expected to lose their current health insurance are expected to join the Obamacare Exchanges – they have to by law, remember? – and, if by some miracle, those exchanges provide decent coverage that doctors, clinics, and hospitals who actually accept then they won’t be hurt too badly by Obamacare.

Of course the bulk of the 53% of Americans who actually have to pay for the federal government will be hurt as will all of our children who will be born and raised in ever-increasing federal debt. The average federal subsidy for exchange participants is expected to be $5,510 per individual in 2014 and raised to $8,290 per individual by 2023. Six million people are expected to receive such hand outs in 2014 and that number is expected to rise to 22 million by 2023.

Our Costs For Obamacare Exchange Subsidies

In 2014 7 million people are predicted to enter the exchanges, 6 million (85.7%) of them receiving federal subsidies in order to afford doing so. By 2023 that number is expected to increase to 25 million with 21 million (84%) of them receiving subsidies.

• 2014 AD – 6 million subsidies x $5,510 average subsidy amount = $33.06 billion USD
• 2023 AD – 21 million subsidies x $8,290 average subsidy amount = $174.09 billion USD

Whether or not this ends up being a waste of money will be dependent upon whether or not these health insurance exchanges created by Obamacare actual work and provide decent and widely accepted coverage for those forced to use them. Given the histories of the insurance industry, the various state governments, the federal government, and the interaction between these three entities I find that to be hoped for but highly unlikely outcome.

Medicaid and CHIP

Another potentially – probably would be closer – bit of Obama’s misinformation is his silence on the fact that what increase in health insurance coverage Obamacare will provide is heavily predicated on increases in the number of people enrolled in Medicaid and/or CHIP.

• 2014 AD – 8 million people added to Medicaid and/or CHIP
• 2023 AD – 12 million people added to Medicaid and/or CHIP

Between the fact that the several states have more control over these programs than the federal government and have already indicated that they, not being able to live on deficit spending, can’t afford and won’t comply with the Obamacare Medicaid mandates, this does not bode well for those people reduced to using these programs.

So President Bush Jr. supposedly lied in order to attack Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq and over the 10 year-long course of the resulting war and subsequent stabilizing and rebuilding of Iraq 4654 members of the coalition forces died, 4486 of whom were American. Anyone care to wager by how many orders of magnitude Obama’s lies’ death toll among Americans will exceed President Bush Jr.?

But don’t ever expect our domestic enemies to ever scream, “Obama lied, people died!” no matter how many tanker trucks of American blood end up on the boy’s hands.
