The Second Coming

Many Christians talk about the Second Coming of their savior, Jesus. A lot of them look eagerly for Him to return and take matters back in hand.

Somehow I don’t think that they’ve fully thought through the problems that He would face upon His return. 😉

What Causes AGW?

Chaos Butterfly Al Gore’s cultists, The Warmists still wail, rant and rave about Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) – or whatever they’ve rebranded it as this month – and still monomaniacally fixate on man-made CO2 emissions as the cause of their looked-for apocalypse. This they, in their religious fervor, do despite a plethora of contrary evidence as to CO2’s primary and secondary effects upon our planet’s climate.

Sadly for them, their eschatology runs afoul of Chaos Theory and, even leaving the falsity of much of their data aside, it’s patently ridiculous for supposed scientists to believe that they can come up with the correctly weighted causative factors behind systemic changes when the system in question is as large and poorly understood as Earth’s climate.

Perhaps they should have read more about Professor Edward Norton Lorenz’ “Butterfly Effect” – i.e., sensitive dependence on initial conditions in nonlinear systems

Alas that could never happen. Lorenz was a meteorologist as well as a mathematician and we know the disdain and contempt that the Warmists feel towards meteorologists.

Still, the issue is potentially important and deserved study. After some research I found a pattern of events and actions that seems to near-perfectly fit their warming models. I may have actually stumbled upon the real culprit behind AGW – the United States Postal Service.

The Warmists should really look into this. Global mean temperatures track much closer to US Postal rates than to atmospheric CO2 levels. Doing so shouldn’t bother them much either, if they can get past their slavish devotion to their dogma. It fits the facts in evidence, is still anthropogenic in nature, and would make AGW entirely America’s fault. Hence it doesn’t violate anything in the Warmists’ core doctrine. 😛

A Very grateful H/T to Jo Nova.

Apocalypse’s Soundtrack

Has it occurred to anyone that the prophesied Apocalypse might, due to Augmented Reality and the growth of portable – soon to be wearable – computing power, have a soundtrack?  While this is quite obviously unknowable, we can guess what format it would be in.

Will That Sooth The Savage Breast? … Sort Of.

Sadly, this means that the music of the End Times will take on a decidedly staccato tempo and lose a great deal of its bass. 😉

Don’t worry though; Steve Jobs or his successors at Apple probably won’t be releasing the iKill or iBurst for your End of Days listening pleasure. They don’t need to since a British firm has been marketing a MP3 player modification to the Kalashnikov (AK-47 series) since 2005!

AK-MP3 Jukebox – Rock and Roll, Boys and Girls!

So the question would be what’s your playlist for Armageddon? Or would you prefer an audio book?

The Four Horsemen

Christian eschatology is quite climactic and rather garish. In the Christians’ view of the End Times the world will be destroyed in a cataclysmic struggle between the nations and peoples of the world, with the very heavens, oceans, and lands of the Earth heaving in wrath, flood, and fire.

Amidst this carnage four avatars of doom and destruction are prophesied to ride forth – the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse: War, Death, Pestilence, and Famine.

War, Death, Famine, and Pestilence - The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse
A Classic Depiction Of The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse

This is certainly a romantic image for the end of our world, but find myself in doubt of its basic premise as to how the world will end. I do not think it will be these horsemen: War, Death, Pestilence, and Famine that ride forth on terrible steeds to destroy civilization.

More likely it seems to me that it will be the the surviving brothers of the late and not lamented nearly enough Common Sense that trumpet our doom. Those four harbingers of doom: I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, and I’m A Victim, already move amongst us.

We’ve little or no need for a Divine ending to our sad world. The heralds of destruction we will be slain by will be of our own making and our end will be slow and ignominious rather than the garish but somehow glorious ending predicted by the Christians.

Awaiting The Rapture

The Rapture is an eschatological event during which Jesus Christ returns to Earth for His Church and believers and takes them up to Heaven where they will rejoin their dead loved ones and live forever in their resurrected bodies beside their Lord.

The Rapture

So very many Christians, especially the Evangelical sects, believe that we are in the End Days and that the Rapture will soon come about. They await being lifted up into Heaven by their Lord, Jesus with anticipation and joy.

What if they’re waiting in vain? Not because they were wrong in their beliefs and that the Rapture would never happen, but because it had already happened and they weren’t number among the tiny handful of people on Earth who weren’t so steeped in sin as to be disqualified and doomed to eternal damnation.

Really! Look at the full criteria for boarding that final flight. What are we really talking about? 50 people? 40 people? 30 people? 20 people? Perhaps as few as 10 rising up in salvation into the heavens? Who’d notice it or believe the accounts of anyone who did?

Yeah, that’d be a pisser wouldn’t it? 😉
