Corporate Heroes

Crime fighting may be rewarding and, in the case of superheroes, it’s certainly glamorous in its way. It doesn’t, however, pay the bills. Hence, what would it be like if superheroes took endorsement contracts and had corporate sponsors?

Corporate Heroes

Of course, I can’t picture Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark being a celebrity spokespersons for McDonald’s or Nike respectively…unless they’d decided to diversify their holdings and buy those companies. 😉

And yes, I know. Galactus is a cosmic entity of nigh on unparalleled power who is beyond such petty concerns as wealth…or is that Bill Gates? I get them confused sometimes. 😆

Imperial Hippies

The AT-AT of the Imperial Hippies. It’s a new and more threatening version of the 1960’s hippies’ VW Microbus that is perfectly and poetically suited to the modern era.

Imperial Hippies and their VW Microbus AT-AT
VW Microbus AT-AT

I really don’t think it was the intent of the Star Wars fan who crafted this odd piece of fan art to so aptly sum up what the hippies have turned into, but he or she succeeded nonetheless.

In American society and politics, the hippies of the 1960’s have metamorphosed into an evil empire of Liberal baby boomers hell-bent on imposing an authoritarian regime…for our own good of course.

Gullible iTrooper

One of the biggest problems that face evil overlords, whether they be The Empire or Apple, is labor. It’s hard, though not impossible, to find good help these days, as Apple’s iTrooper certainly proves.

iTrooper Gulled By Droids
These Aren’t The Droids You’re Looking For

The ever gullible iTrooper, well-compensated but poorly trained and inflexible, falls for the Jedi mind trick every time. These just must not be the droids he’s looking for.

On the other hand, these are the droids you’re looking for, as is this one.

Origin Of Steampunk

The term “Steampunk” may have been coined by science fiction author K. W. Jeter in the spring of 1987 but the actual origins of the genre have remained obscure and a matter of some debate in fandom … until now.

They Boldly Went…To Victorian England

The crew of the Enterprise never could resist a bit of time travel and it’s not surprising that they’d eventually end up in Victorian England or that they’d be the root cause of Steampunk. 😉

We’re just all very lucky that Retronaut unearthed these images of Capt. Kirk and crew by Rabbit Tooth. Otherwise, the true origin of Steampunk would still be lost to history.
