Unchallenging Challenge

President Donald J. TrumpYesterday, President Trump announced that he plans to re-examine federal requirements that regulate the fuel efficiency of new cars and trucks. The Lamestream Enemedia instantly characterized it as the President’s moving forcefully against Obama-era environmental rules – because, of course, hysteria is their sole stock and trade and they know that the Warmists will go even further insane if properly goaded.

Vastly unsurprisingly, the truth of the matter is different than the MSM’s spin upon it. President Trump’s decision to re-evaluate Obama’s Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) emissions targets is a rather unchallenging challenge to the supposed centerpiece of Obama’s strategy to combat global warming. While it’s true that Obama’s EPA had promulgated regulations for cars and trucks that required auto manufacturers to reach a fleet-wide average of 54.5 mpg by 2025, it is also true that this rule was supposed to be reviewed in 2018 – but, in January – just seven days before Obama left office, the boy decided to cancel the review process. All that President Trump has promised to do is to reinstate the original, promised review of the CAFE standards that Obama imposed in 2012.

So really, like almost everything President Trump and his new administration has done so far, this is neither reason for Liberals and Progressives to scream, nor cause for Right Wing pundits and talking heads to crow and gloat.

Man Bites Dog

President Donald J. TrumpAs should be expected, the biggest news in America, possibly the Civilized World, is President Donald J. Trump. And one of the evolving stories center to this is the President’s refusal to bow to the Lamestream Enemedia. Given that these kingmakers – and failed, would-be queenmakers – aren’t used to being questioned by anyone, this is definitely a “Man Bites Dog” news moment and of paroxysmal bouts of outrage, fear, and denial.

Our President’s latest strike against the leftwing propaganda engines was fired off via Twitter on February 17th.

The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!”

— President Donald J. Trump

Yes! A man bit the dogs and the dogs are howling. That’s newsworthy indeed and gratifying to read about as the “press” and their liberal followers explode over it. Definitely a case of “The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Man Bites Dog
Man Bites Dog

Oh, and how they’re yipping, yapping and howling over this as they tear the clothes and beat their breasts over this “horrible slur” against them, as if they hadn’t already though their bias, hate, and mendacity already beggared their own reputations and betrayed and thus lost the trust of we, the People.

Oh yes! The media personalities and their always so useful and beholden shills have been quick to cry, “That’s how dictators get started,” and to claim to all and sundry who might listen and give credence to them that President Trump is shutting down the media.

No, while it’s true that that’s how dictators get started, it’s also how revolutionaries get started. They speak truth to power and they do so boldly, frankly, unapologetically, and with the candor that comes from the righteousness of their cause. And that is what President Trump is doing, speaking truth to power – speaking truth the undeserving holders and wielders of a vast, pervasive, and manipulative power that they have sorely misused, abused, and corrupted.

And that, my fellow Americans, is a Man Bites Dog moment in history.
