The natural law enjoins us to love devotedly and to defend the country in which we were born, and in which we were brought up, so that every good citizen hesitates not to face death for his native land…. We are bound, then, to love dearly the country whence we have received the means of engagement this mortal life affords
— Pope Leo XIII, Sapientia Christiana Encyclical

It’s Spring! It’s Spring! The long, cold winter of our discontent is over… or not. It being a week past March 20th, the official – read as titular – end of Winter doesn’t seem to mean squat to Gaia. 😉
It’s Spring! … Nope! Cold And Snow Are Coming
Alas, this is how the world works. Weather is what happens while “the experts” debate and attempt to predict the climate. 😆

Please remember, it’s still Winter. Technically, by normative calendar dating, it’s going to be still Winter until Sunday, March 20. And, even Punxsutawney Phil ran back inside at the beginning of the month. The cold weather ain’t going away yet, so quit getting ahead of yourselves.
So Sweaters Are Still Delightfully In Order
So, I strongly suggest not packing those sweaters away quite yet. They’ll be of very pleasant use for some time yet and should definitely heat things up.
And, As An Alternative or Addition, Thigh-High Socks Are Still Apropos
Really! Nobody likes cold feet or legs. In fact, I have it on reasonably good authority that warm feet and legs keep the whole body warm enough in many cases. Hence, some thigh-high socks are a good fashion bet for the remains of this cold season.

It’s going to be cold for a few more weeks in a lot of places. Stay warm now.

As I’ve posted before, there’s a small set of things that especially love about Autumn. And, here we have all of them with the addition of seasonal colors and accoutrements! Oh yeah, Autumnal perfection!.

As Tyler, The Portly Politico recently reminded me, Fall officially started Wednesday, Sep 22. So, that combined with the oddly seasonal sudden cooling we’ve experienced up here in NY, definitely means we’ve felt the 1st brush of Autumn in 2021.
Like Tyler and a plethora of other people, Autumn is my favorite season, though for different reasons than most will admit to. 😛
Thigh-High Socks – An Overlooked Goodness
The 1st great joy of this, my favorite season, is the return of thigh-high socks. I don’t know why – there’s little to no point in arguing matters of taste or attraction, even with one’s self – but socks up over their knees, especially when combined with shorts, short skirts, or minidresses, is a wonderful and titillating part of Autumn for me.
Sweaters – A Classic Autumn Joy
And, of joyous course, the 1st brush of Autumn is also the 1st blush of sweater season. And, who doesn’t love – or, at least lust after – women in sweaters? For Americans, it is literally part of our culture and has been entrenched in it since before WW2.
Pokies – The Cherries On Top Of Boob Sundaes
Of course, the best thing about the 1st blush of Autumn and its cooler weather is the women who weren’t expecting it, didn’t care about it, or choose to capitalize upon it. 😉
Oh yes! I love the 1st blush of Autumn and all the beauty and joy it brings me.

It may be March but, March or not, it’s still cold out there. Well, at least where I am it is. For those in the South, e.g., Houston, TX, things may be a bit different and warmer. But fortunately, both sweaters and thigh-high socks are wonderful and warming things. Hence, the ongoing cold weather can and should be enjoyed, not just endured.
