Christie and Obama

It’s bound to happen that some people will draw comparisons and, in the case of Liberals, Progressives, and the minority sharecroppers beholden to them for hand-outs, false equivalencies. It should, however, be noted that Governor Cristie’s claims of ignorance over his singular “Bridgegate” scandal pales in comparison to Obama’s laundry list of scandals and should-be scandals.

Cristie and Obama
Christie and Obama Sitting In A Tree…

Of course, my snarky reference to an old schoolyard chant is pretty inaccurate as well. Christie’s not built for really tree climbing and Obama has a natural fear of tree limbs since he’s rightfully afraid that he’ll end up hanging from one. 😉

Christie’s people are such amateurs. If Obama had done this it would have been a non story. You would think that the skinny dude would have given the fat man some pointers when they were bestest buddies just before the 2012 election. The governor is just not ready to play in the big leagues.

I think it’s less a matter of Christie’s people’s skill and more a matter of Christie not having the advantages that Obama does. Christie’s White and, therefore held to a higher standard of behavior; he doesn’t wield the same power as Obama does over the media; and Christie has to deal with Obama and his followers at the federal level butting in in order to make sure that Christie doesn’t have a fair shot at the White House in 2016.

In a strange way this whole thing is helping the Governor. Conservatives have been royally peeved at him for the crap he pulled with Obama. However they hate the Obama colon polyp media as much as they hate Obama. As the media keeps piling on, Conservatives are reflexively rising to Christie’s defense. If he wants to be more than a governor, this is good for him.

I doubt it will help Christie by the time of the 2016 elections or even the GOP primaries. True, Americans are coming to defense against the Liberals’ assault but that support will fade whereas the knowledge that Christie is less than Conservative in many ways will not.

Of course, judging by recent history, that means he’ll be the one that the establishment GOP backs in the Primaries instead of a candidate that offered real choice and who could actually motivate the American people to vote for him or against the Liberals’ chosen figurehead.
