Equality Quells Liberty
Equality quells Liberty in any society where they have decided that equality of result or outcome is their goal, as opposed to equality of opportunity. In those circumstances Equality actually precludes Liberty because it allows neither the freedom to succeed to the best of one’s merits nor the freedom to fail if one’s merits fall short.

Well sure, but that’s not news. Any political/sociological paradigm taken to an extreme ends up being pernicious. Take a look at American-style capitalism, for example: we do not operate with 100% free unhindered markets, nor is the marketplace allowed to be run solely by competition, supply and demand.
Too much liberty = anarchy; too much equality = communism (et al).

Yeah, it’s a sliding scale. I only bothered to post on the topic because it seems that a lot of people don’t understand that. They seem to believe that liberty can be preserved largely as is even while demanding broad spectrum equality of outcome.
