Of Ants And Grasshoppers

Posted in 2010 Election, 2012 Election, Ethics & Morality, Humor, Politics, Society on August 23rd, 2010

In Aesop fable of The Ant and the Grasshopper a grasshopper spends the warm months singing and idling while the ant worked hard to store up food for long, cold winter. When winter arrives, the grasshopper finds itself dying of hunger, and upon asking the ant for food and shelter, is rejected and castigated for its idleness and sloth. Soon the grasshopper dies of cold and hunger.

The story was once used to teach the virtues of hard work and saving, and the perils of laziness and improvidence.

That, of course, was a story for a vastly different age. Now such a parable would be derided as an example of greed and the ant would be cast as the villain.  Yet, even so, The Ant and the Grasshopper can be recast in a modern light:

The Ant and the Grasshopper: A Parable For Today

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC , PBS, NPR, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green…’

ACORN busses in hundreds of angry protesters and stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group singing, ‘We Shall Overcome.’

Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper’s sake, demanding that they must kill any God that did not damn this ant.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act, making it retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, rumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing down the rest of the free world with it, and in some dark, but suddenly nearer Hell Pazuzu smiles.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Be careful how you vote in 2010 and 2012.

Sadly, we’ve degenerated very far since the time of that 7th Century BC Thracian Fabulist, Aesop became famous across the ancient world as the preeminent teller of fables. Now the Ant would be cast as the rapacious, selfish, capitalist and the Grasshopper as an oppressed minority or an example of “The Ant’s Burden.” 😉

Obama Loses Control

Posted in 2010 Election, Politics on August 23rd, 2010

Whenever President Obama loses control over a domestic issue or feels that he has it is a good thing for America and for we, the People of America. It is always good for any free people when a would-be tyrant, especially one who sees himself as beneficent, is discomfited.

We are living in such a time. President Obama has lost some parts of the control he has had previously enjoyed over the MSM and news of the widespread dissent against him and his followers is now being published.

What Obama is most worried about, however, is that he and his followers no longer firmly the control the airwaves going into the upcoming 2010 Congressional Midterm Elections. Campaign ads are being run and the Obama Regime doesn’t know by exactly who.

As the political season heats up, Americans are already being inundated with the usual phone calls, mailings, and TV ads from campaigns all across the country. But this summer, they’re also seeing a flood of attack ads run by shadowy groups with harmless-sounding names. We don’t know who’s behind these ads and we don’t know who’s paying for them.

— President Obama
Weekly Address, August 21, 2010

That’s an ironic and cosmically hypocritical position for some who has made sure to shroud their entire past – birth, education, religion, and even election funding – from scrutiny by the American people he has sought to rule over.

But of course Obama can’t stand not knowing exactly who is behind each and every bit of dissent. He cannot follow the rules of his political strategy as laid out by his longtime friend and mentor, without such knowledge.

Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.

Rules for Radicals, Rule 11

I can easily see where many groups of Americans might prefer to shield themselves however they can from reprisals by the Obama Regime.

Admittedly though, America has been damaged and insulted in the past by “shadowy groups with harmless-sounding names,” such as Organizing for America, ACORN, SEIU, Move On, Code Pink, and the Cordoba Initiative. Somehow though I doubt that Obama would really want their sources of funding looked at too closely – or what and/or who they’re buying or have bought with that money.

Need He Say More?

Posted in 2010 Election, Politics on August 12th, 2010

On Tuesday, August 10, 2010 Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) had this to say to a room full of mostly Hispanic voters:

I don’t know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?

Sometimes the blind racism shown by how and when Liberals choose to play the Race Card beggars the imagination; it truly does.

Harry Reid: Do I need to say more?

I really can’t think of anything more that Senator Reid needs to say on anything related to that topic. He has once again shown his true colors as just another yammering Liberal racist who stereotypes minorities and lumps them into some monolithic bloc that he then cynically seeks to manipulate for his own benefit.

What funny though is the way that Reid and his sort would attack a similar statement if made by a Republican. Can you imagine the response to:

I don’t know how anyone of Northern European heritage could be a Democrat, okay. Do I need to say more?

So…Does Reid really need to say anything more at all? Well, “Goodbye” would be nice; a dull thud as his corpse hit the ground would be even better – but that’s not really saying anything. 😉

I Can See November

Posted in 2010 Election, Humor, Politics on July 3rd, 2010

America has begun the July 4th holiday weekend, a time when we celebrate our independence and the creation through the force of will and of arms of our sovereign nation. For most of us the holiday weekend will be a joyous time, both because of the amazing divine gift to the world that it celebrates and – in all cruel honesty – because for many of us it is a welcome three-day weekend and break from the drudgery of our workplaces.

For some though the 4th of July, America’s Independence Day, may not be quite so joyous or even pleasant. 😉

I Can See November! July 4th, America's Independence Day, may not be a joyful holiday for Obama
I Can See November From My House

Yes! The American people, those within her borders who love our country and hold fast to the ideals of liberty and sovereignty that it was founded upon, are “onto Obama” and his coteries of Liberals that have infested our federal government and President Obama, not being an utter fool, can certainly see that fact of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

President Obama can certainly see that we, the People are not tolerant of his ideology; the way a great many of the GOP primaries have gone and the way that some at-risk Dems have changed their tunes and voting has painted a clear picture of that.

Oh yes! The upcoming “fireworks” are not going to make President Obama and his Liberal cabal happy at all. 😛
