She’s Born This Way

Posted in Humor, Music on September 3rd, 2011

With the ongoing popularity of Lady Gaga aka Stefani Germanotta as both a singer and a pop-culture and style icon of sorts and the fact that the title track of her second Album, Born This Way has become something akin to her anthem, it behooves us all to think about the message that she is sending.

The whole born that way vs. made a choice debate has been with us for a long time. It’s nothing but the nature vs. nurture argument recast in new words and applied to different behaviors and attitudes.

So perhaps Lady Gaga’s penchant for outrageous “fashion statements” has a genetic component. Perhaps we should look at her ancestry to see if there’s been a tendency for those of her blood to dress in similar fashions…

To be fair though, science has made some interesting strides and it’s obvious that the brains of Liberals and Americans aren’t built or wired in the same way.

Lady Gaga's Grandmother?
Grandma Gaga?

Perhaps Ms. Germanotta’s persona, with it’s outre public behavior and dress sense, is purely a matter of choice. Then again, perhaps it’s a matter of genetics. Perhaps she’s born this way. 😆

NOTE: This post is pure humor and meant without malice of any sort. In the Gods’ honest truth, Lady Gaga is a sane and amazingly rational young woman. Behind closed doors where it won’t affect her image she’s been an island of calm, serenity, and normalcy within the turbulent sea of the drama queens of her entourage and label.

A Junkie Is Dead

Posted in Music, Society on July 25th, 2011

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her bed Saturday afternoon security guard who her record label had appointed to help look after her over the past couple of years.

This has had the completely expected but still pathetic result of inundating the media with “tributes” to Winehouse in a sort off mass hysterical eulogizing the dead twenty-seven year-old drug addict.

Amy Winehouse – Just Another Dead Junkie, Nothing More

Amy Winehouse was a junkie. Junkies die, normally young, every day of every year. Right thinking societies that haven’t degenerated beyond recognition don’t paint them as anything other than that.

Apocalypse’s Soundtrack

Posted in Humor, Music, Society, Technology on March 3rd, 2011

Has it occurred to anyone that the prophesied Apocalypse might, due to Augmented Reality and the growth of portable – soon to be wearable – computing power, have a soundtrack?  While this is quite obviously unknowable, we can guess what format it would be in.

Will That Sooth The Savage Breast? … Sort Of.

Sadly, this means that the music of the End Times will take on a decidedly staccato tempo and lose a great deal of its bass. 😉

Don’t worry though; Steve Jobs or his successors at Apple probably won’t be releasing the iKill or iBurst for your End of Days listening pleasure. They don’t need to since a British firm has been marketing a MP3 player modification to the Kalashnikov (AK-47 series) since 2005!

AK-MP3 Jukebox – Rock and Roll, Boys and Girls!

So the question would be what’s your playlist for Armageddon? Or would you prefer an audio book?

Online Dating 2.0?

Posted in Humor, Music, Society, Technology on December 13th, 2010

Dating and relationships have changed a great deal over the years, and this mutation has increased in frequency and amplitude in the wake of social media and online communities, many centered around Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games (MMORPGs).

We now have a growing number of people having online “relationships” where they’re “dating” people they’ve never even seen, much less met in person!

The Guild’s Do You Wanna Date My Avatar, featuring Felicia Day, sums up the disturbing situation with aplomb, style, and just the right amount, in my rarely humble opinion, of sarcasm-laced humor.

Do You Want To Date My Avatar? Gods! I Hope and Pray Not

Truly, this online dating 2.0 where the participants have never seen each other and conduct their “affairs” solely through the interactions between their avatars leaves me in the position of not knowing whether to laugh or bang my head against the wall.

And how much more bizarre is it going to get now that they’ve developed the Kinect!?! 😯

Dungeon Master Girls

Gamers, as in the D&D sort, aren’t like they used to be. The advent of Live Action Role Playing (LARP) changed everything, especially the gender mix and the overall aesthetics. 😉

Dungeon Master Girls – They’ll Melt Your Polyhedrons

Perhaps the most disturbing part of this is the fact that Emily Morris’ and Mike Damanskis’ parody is actually less surreal and bizarre than the actual video for Katy Perry’s California Girls.
