The Perfect Gifts

Posted in Humor, Politics on December 21st, 2012

As much as the Liberals and Progressives hate and loath it, it’s the Christmas Season. This means it’s the gift giving season, though giving Christmas gifts to Liberals and Progressives can be problematical; it’s just so hard to figure out what they would like.

There are some great gift ideas for the Leftists living within our nation’s borders though so don’t forget them this holiday season. Remember that, while Liberals and Progressives hate and loath Christmas, they love being given things, whether those things are called presents, hand-outs, or entitlements. 😉

A 2nd Amendment Remedy

Posted in Politics, Society on December 17th, 2012

The phrase, “a 2nd Amendment remedy” is often used as an implied threat to use firearms as a remedy for some political or societal illness. For the purposes of this article, however, it is presented in the terms of a remedy for America’s ongoing problems with accepting and rationally enforcing the strictures of the Second Amendment in 21st century America.

The Second Amendment Of The US Constitution

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

A fairly large number of the residents of America want harsh restrictions to placed upon Americans’ ability to purchase and own firearms. An even larger number are against any significant impediment to purchasing and owning firearms. For close to a century this battle has raged across the nation’s legislatures and courtrooms with no end to it in sight.

A practical remedy to this would be for the US government to issue every non-felon, able-bodied adult one Colt M16A4 and one Beretta M9A1, both with accompanying maintenance kits and paraphernalia.

Then, as the right to keep arms has been assured for the American people, legislators can go ahead and place nigh on any level of restrictions on the purchase and ownership of non-issue firearms that their constituencies will bear without infringing upon anyone’s constitutional rights.

And please! Do perform ballistic fingerprinting upon each issued weapon and record the data, along with the identity of the citizen the weapon was issued to in a national database. With all law-abiding adults in America having these weapons, there’s no longer any potential for misuse of such a database to confiscate Americans’ weaponry.

Additionally, as these M16A4s and Beretta M9A1s are to be issued for individuals’ use, the laws should be such that they are neither transferable nor saleable, and any maintenance or changes to the weapons’ firing pins or barrels should be restricted to licensed gunsmiths and include the new ballistic fingerprinting being entered into the national database.

They’re Not That Stupid

Posted in Politics, Society on December 16th, 2012

We Americans keep trotting out various iterations of the same argument to use against the gun grabbers. That argument being that laws only restrict the law abiding citizens since criminals, by their very nature, are not so restricted and, hence, gun control is foredoomed to failure.

Special Kind Of Stupid
You’re A Special Kind Of Stupid, Aren’t You?

We may be the ones who are a special kind of stupid though for believing that the gun grabbers don’t understand this.

It’s not unreasonable to think that they’re not that stupid and, irrespective of what they claim now, will not be satisfied until they’ve completely disarmed the American populace, which would be the only way to eliminate firearms in the hands of criminals and the insane.

And, even if by some chance, many of them are that stupid. They won’t be satisfied with the resultant failure and will just progress from there towards universal firearm confiscation and disarmament.

So let’s consider that they’re not that stupid and choose not to be stupid ourselves.

California Leads The Way

Posted in Politics on December 13th, 2012

california-flag-burningIn recent decades the phrase, “As California goes, so goes the nation” has become commonplace, strongly implying that California leads the way in America’s political, social, and economic trends. Sadly for America’s future, this is not a wholly unfounded idea.

One need only look to the effects of California’s leftwing, neo-Socialist laws, regulations, and taxcode upon small businesses to see that, if California leads the way, then that way is to financial ruin.

This is not to say that California doesn’t provide many well established routes for Californians to start small businesses, the driving force in employment.

It’s just that those routes all lead out of California and into states with less punitive laws and taxes and, obviously, the jobs those small businesses would provide followed along the same routes.

Both sadly and scarily, California did lead the way in this.  On a national scale America is suffering the same fate as our laws, regulations, and tax code drives corporations overseas because offshoring is the only way that they can survive in the current global market.

Union Survival

Posted in Politics on December 12th, 2012

Big LaborCurrently there’s a lot of speculation about Labor Union survival in modern age because of Michigan becoming on the 24th Right-To-Work state in the United States of America on December 11, 2012 by Gov. Snyder’s signing both House Bill 4003 and Senate Bill 116 into law, thereby prohibiting both private and public sector workers from being forced to join unions and pay dues to the same as a condition of their employment.

This is seen by both sides of this particular war as a serious blow to organized labor in Michigan and in America at large. One wonders, however, why they each feel this way.

  • Is union survival based upon force and coercion of workers to such an extent that the union will collapse if and when employees’ membership becomes voluntary?
  • Is the labor unions’ political power so focused on “purchasing” politicians that any drop in their dues will weaken them, possibly to the point of irrelevance and resultant failure and dissolution?

These are real questions of great and lasting importance that need to be answered by both sides of the Business v. Organized Labor conflict. Otherwise, there will be conflict for no sake or purpose other than the conflict itself…except to line politicians’ pockets and give the MSM something to sensationalize.
