Reflections From a Murky Pond

Obama, having finished with both his 50th birthday party / fundraising gala and it’s unavoidable physical consequences, decided once again to read from his teleprompter for the American people and his Liberals.  In it he tried to brush off Standard & Poor’s downgrading of the US government’s credit rating and to reassure everyone about the basic soundness of the American economy.

The One had spoken! S & P was wrong and everything was really fine. America’s government was entitled to a AAA rating; Warren Buffett even said so.

And the people listened. The Dow plunged a total of approximately 630 points and the NASDAQ lost 80 points by close of trading in the wake of Obama’s predictably arrogant and empty mouthings.

If the boy doesn’t have the honor to suicide or the decency to resign his office, he could, at a bare minimum, keep his jabbering mouth shut about any and all issues of substance.

Al Gore, the Hierophant of Global Warming, is getting angrier and angrier about his descent into irrelevance. This is unsurprising since he’s lost a great deal of money with the ongoing collapse of the AGW cult’s political power and stands to lose even more.

It’s truly hilarious to watch this ineffectual sociopath decompensate and become more and more unhinged.

Gore™ AGW Kool Aid – It’s Not Selling Anymore

At an Aspen Institute media forum titled “Networks and Citizenship” Gore came unhinged and started railing against just about every segment of American industry.

The model of media manipulation used then, Gore said, “was transported whole cloth into the climate debate. And some of the exact same people — I can go down a list of their names — are involved in this. And so what do they do? They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn’t trap heat. It may be volcanoes.’ Bullshit! ‘It may be sun spots.’ Bullshit! ‘It’s not getting warmer.’ Bullshit!” Gore exclaimed.

Even leaving the profanity and utter gracelessness of Gore’s rantings aside, this was a pathetic display by a deeply morally bankrupt individual, hell-bent on trying to revive his doomsday cult for his own profit despite the growing weight of findings that shatter their myths.

“They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message…” After all the fraud, shoddy and slanted methodology, subornation of the peer review process, and outright corruption displayed by the IPCC, Al Gore, The University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, and horde of other Warmists, it’s safe to say that Gore’s claim fits him and them far better than those that he railed against.

Standard & Poor’s rating agency has downgraded the US credit rating to AA+ from its top rank of AAA, reflecting concerns over the US federal government’s inability or unwillingness to curb its deficit spending.

This was an expected course of action and S & P, along with Moody’s, Fitch, the IMF, and even Italy, had warned that this would likely happen.

Well, the Obama presidency was supposed to be historic and this is historic.  Friday, August 5, 2011 marked S & P’s first ever downgrade rating for the US Government’s credit since S & P first granted it in 94 years ago in 1917.

We lowered our long-term rating on the U.S. because we believe that the prolonged controversy over raising the statutory debt ceiling and the related fiscal policy debate indicate that further near-term progress containing the growth in public spending, especially on entitlements, or on reaching an agreement on raising revenues is less likely than we previously assumed and will remain a contentious and fitful process. We also believe that the fiscal consolidation plan that Congress and the Administration agreed to this week falls short of the amount that we believe is necessary to stabilize the general government debt burden by the middle of the decade.

As bad as that sounds, it actually gets worse. Standard & Poor – It’s also a safe bet that Moody’s and Fitch will concur – has, rightly I believe, not only downgraded America’s government’s credit score but predicts at negative outlook indicating the likelihood of an even further worsening credit rating in the near-term future.

The outlook on the long-term rating is negative. We could lower the long-term rating to ‘AA’ within the next two years if we see that less reduction in spending than agreed to, higher interest rates, or new fiscal pressures during the period result in a higher general government debt trajectory than we currently assume in our base case.

This means that it’s unlikely that any of us alive today will see America’s credit rating restored to AAA and that we’ll almost assuredly live to see it downgraded further to AA and likely see it downgraded even further unless we can force the federal government to live within our means.

How Embarrassing

And it will take force – ballots, bullets, bombs, or some combination thereof – for Americans to correct the federal government’s addiction to raping our nation’s economy. Obama and his coterie of Liberals, while the most profligate of the wastrels, are just the latest downward step in the degeneration of America’s federal government. Hoover, FDR, Carter, and yes Bush Jr., along with their respective Congresses built and expanded the entitlement society and the nation’s deficit.

With so much inertia built up within it and so much bloated weight behind it, there’s no gentle way enact true change upon this system or its proponents before our nation is completely beggared and bankrupt. We, the People are left with only “short lever” means at our disposal – maximum force applied at the point of change. Sadly I suppose, this is inefficient and will be extremely painful, both for Americans and for the Liberals and their minority tenants.

Then again, it’s been Americans’ long-running misapplied compassion, complacency, and stupidity that has allowed them to bring our nation to this point and, “Stupid should be painful.”

Keep your eyes open. Travel light but load heavy, and always put another round in the enemy after they’re down.  When faced with extremity, extremism in the cause of America is no vice; it is a virtue and holy duty.

Liberals and other apologists for Islam keep stridently ranting that the jihad American is defending against isn’t a Clash of Cultures. Yet how can these fools expect anyone with any sense to lend them credence when the war was started over Islam’s inherent differences from- and incompatibilities with the culture of the Civilized World?

As an example – one of a vast array of such – take the intersection of sexual mores, fashion, and language. In the Civilized World, when one says, “She’s about to explode out her clothes,” they mean it in a good way – or, at the very least, in a context that carries no weight of immediate physical danger.

But within the Muslim World female fashion and the lexicon surrounding how they dress evolved differently. When they mention “exploding clothes” or that “she’s going to explode out her clothes” they mean something quite different and far less pleasant.

Even more sadly, this sort of thing naturally leads to a different definition for, “She’s a hot mess” in the Muslim World. 😯

On the bright side – such as it is, “Ahlan Ya gamila! Are those blasting caps under your blouse or are you just happy to see me?” becomes a useable bit of dialogue, though a potentially odd set of last words depending upon how the niqaabi answers.

There’s little or no doubt that Heckler & Koch’s MP-5 series of submachine guns are some of the finest weapons on the planet, especially for urban work and for vehicle crews.

I had, however, always believed that the “K” in the compact variant, the MP5K, was for kurz (short) as opposed to kinder (children). 😉

Then again, given the size, weight, balance, and control of the MP5K, I really can’t think of any better weapon in this class for children’s training and use. H & K might want to think about changing their marketing. 😆
