The Biker and the Lion

Posted in Humor, Politics, Society on January 14th, 2010

Here’s a parable – or fable, if you prefer – for America’s modern, twilight age. It’s entitled The Biker and the Lion.

A biker was riding his Harley by the zoo in Washington, DC when he saw a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage. Suddenly, the lion grabbed her by the cuff of her jacket and tried to pull her inside to slaughter and eat her, under the eyes of her terrified, screaming parents.

The biker jumped off his Harley, ran to the cage and hit the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumped back, releasing the girl, and the biker brought her to her terrified parents, who thanked him endlessly.

A reporter has watched the whole event.

The reporter addressed the Harley rider saying, “Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I’ve seen a man do in my whole life.”

The Harley rider replied, “Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right.”

The reporter said, “Well, I’ll make sure this won’t go unnoticed. I’m a journalist, you know, and tomorrow’s paper will have this story on the front page. So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?”

The biker replied, “I’m a U.S. Marine and a Republican”

The journalist leaves.

The following morning the biker bought the paper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and read, on the front page:

U.S.MARINE-BIKER ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH

That pretty much sums up the liberal news media’s approach to the news these days.

Such is the nature of the modern MSM. There’s certainly some humor in that, especially in the great lengths the media will go to twist facts enough to villify whoever must be vilified in order to pander to the basest and most mean of the population within America.

Remember always that that which is utterly undeserving of respect is always deserving of mockery. 😉

Facebook Integration

jonolanFacebook Integration

Reflections From A Murky Pond is now integrated with Facebook.

Readers can now log into this blog with their Facebook account and can publish their comments on their Facebook profiles as well as on Reflections From A Murky Pond, if they so wish.

Facebook users’, when logged in, will also now display their Facebook profile picture with their comments instead of either their Gravatar or the blog’s default commenter image.

I have also – with the great help of the WordPress plug-in, WPBook – created a Facebook Application that allows bidirectional integration and synchronization between Reflections From A Murky Pond and Facebook. Now both posts and comments from the blog will show up in the application on Facebook and comments made within the Facebook application (http://apps.facebook.com/murkypond) will also appear in the blog itself.

The application creates a small box in the Facebook users’ profiles that presents the headlines for Reflections From A Murky Pond’s five(5) most recent posts.

Clicking on any of the headlines will take the Facebook users to the full application where they can view the post and its comments, and also comment themselves if they so choose.

I’m hoping that this will facilitate a greater reach for the blog and an easier means of communication and commenting since so many of us are on Facebook these days.

Liberal Dose Of Irony

Posted in Humor, Politics on January 12th, 2010

It was reported by CNN on January 5, 2010 that Congress was going to investigate the Bernard Madoff ponzi scheme.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Lawmakers took a hard look Monday at the alleged $50 billion investment scam engineered by Bernard Madoff that has sent shock waves across the nation’s already fragile financial system.

At a hearing held by a House Financial Services subcommittee, lawmakers largely focused on how Madoff managed to evade detection for so long and whether gaps in regulation allowed him to carry out his alleged multi-billion Ponzi scheme.

“Before we act we need to understand how Mr. Madoff organized his many business operations and how he perpetrated his alleged fraudulent acts,” said Paul Kanjorski, D-Penn, the chairman of the subcommittee.

The irony of this should not be lost on the American people. The man who made $50 billion disappear is now being investigated by the people who have made over $750 billion disappear so far!

Of course the current Liberal regime may be just looking for clues on how Madoff did it so that they can use those methods themselves. After all, ObamaCare is going to need of the “creative” funding help it can get or fabricate. 😉

The Negro In Context

Posted in Politics, Society on January 11th, 2010

The latest manufactured tempest in a teapot to pollute America’s political atmosphere is the strident complaints and outrage over Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s supposed racist description of then Presidential candidate Barack Obama. There is a surfeit of outrage from race-mongers and the expected opportunistic attacks from the GOP.

The supposed racial offense is that, during the 2008 campaign, Sen. Reid is alleged to have described Obama as “a “light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.”

I loath Reid and pray nightly for his painful and ignominious death, but it is ridiculous to attack him over manufactured non-issues, especially ones that further the racist agenda of certain Blacks.

Of course the race-baiters – and somewhat sadly, the leaders of my own titular party – blew their collective stacks over this allegation. Let’s put it in context though. Below is what the authors of Game Change, John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, claim Sen. Reid actually said:

He was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a “light-skinned” African American “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,” as he said privately. Reid was convinced, in fact, that Obama’s race would help him more than hurt him in a bid for the Democratic nomination.

Game Change, pg 37

I can’t see where any sane person in America would have a problem with Reid’s statement unless that “offended” person had either an racial axe to grind or wanted yet another hand-out and wasn’t shy about using extortion to get it.

President Senator Obama was and is exactly that, a light-skinned African-American with a politically safe and pleasingly nondescript accent and possessed of a cultured vocabulary that has none the issues of either the rural South or the thuggish Inner City.

Actually, President Obama, with his Kenyan and American mixed parentage is one of the few Blacks in America who can rightfully claim the nomenclature of “African-American”

Senator Reid was also correct in his thoughts that Obama was the sort of Black that America was ready to accept in a position of political leadership. In a realpolitik sense Sen. Obama was the Magic Negro of 2007 and 2008 and the combination of his demeanor, presentation, and race certainly helped him defeat Sen. Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primary.

But facts and context don’t matter to race-baiters, and they certainly don’t matter to GOP who has been given the chance to treat a Democrat in the same manner as the Dems have treated GOP politicians who made potential controversial statements.

Such is the twisted state of society and politics in America.

Attack of the Muslims

Posted in Humor, Politics, Religion, Society on January 8th, 2010

This spoofed theatrical trailer reminds me a lot of the old Mystery Science Theater 3000 cable television series.

Attack Of The Muslims!

In a nation ruled by Shari’a, one woman dares attempt to defy the Islamic law by studying at a library. Soon, wave after wave of Islamic stupidity comes knocking, threatening to kill and/or stupefy every kufr they find.

The goods news is that you can deal with Muslims the same way as you would – in the normal zombie movie “ficton” – deal with zombies. Shoot them in the head! The even better news is that, unlike zombies, you can also shoot Muslims in the gut with the same effect but greater and longer lasting entertainment value. 😉
