Reflections From a Murky Pond

Seems sort of legit. At least it does in the strict context of going to a coffee shop and trying to order your first cup of the day. Having to wait for the barista to deal with some crazy, over-the-top, frou-frou drink when you just want a hot cup of coffee does seem to be enough to put me and many others on the edge of a psychotic break. 😉

Have The First Cup(s) Of Coffee At Home

Of course, knowing my own long-established lack of tolerance for fools, especially those that do things to coffee, 99 out of 100 mornings I have a pot of coffee at home first before leaving to go anywhere.

And yes, I take my coffee black in the morning, just like my women, though I normally lighten and sweeten things up later in the day. 😉

Monsanto, are you reading this?!? American society is aging. There’s a growing market for this! And remember, even with almost all the wine being bought by the “coastal elites” inside America’s borders, the 2nd largest market is Florida, the Old Folks’ Burial Grounds.

Yes, that’s the Gods’ honest truth right there! Everyone should have a hot breakfast, especially on Sunday mornings. Or, maybe brunch if you slept in. Better yet, Second Breakfast, because you didn’t sleep in. 😉

Dim Sum is, to my mind, a near-perfect breakfast or brunch. And buns – Baozi (包子) – are some of the best types of Dim Sum for starting any morning with. Though, since these are steamy, White buns, I suppose I should be calling them Mantou (饅頭). I know, given these buns’ size and plumpness, however, that they’re not the smaller, unleavened jiaozi (餃子). 😉

Food Porn’s Goatse

Food porn, it’s been a thing for a long time on the internet, though not as long as cats. 😆 But, like a form of such things, Rule 34 applies and it has its very, very disturbing dark side. Yes, food porn has its own goatse.

And yes, I’ll be honest. My wives and I do – more than occasionally – engage in purveying food porn. Three top shelf chefs with smartphones and social media accounts will do that. 😉

But, and this a big but worth a lot of cringing shivers, especially among the younger crowd, those 30 images above aren’t made up or originally designed for shock factor. Each one is actually a “real” food or food suggestion from America’s 50s, 60s, and 70s. Indeed, most of them were suggested for dinner parties or similar culinary events.
