First Time Pride

Posted in 2012 Election, Humor, Politics on April 21st, 2012

Boston Red Sox LogoSome days start off better and more unexpectedly than other.  This was one of them. 🙂

It has become clear that the people of this country, even those in Boston, are ready for change and starving for a different kind of politics. For the first time in my life as a Yankees fan I am proud of the Boston Red Sox fans because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback in America.

It seems that Obama arrogantly chose to interject himself into Fenway Park’s 100th Anniversary on Friday, April 20, 2012.

The crowd’s response to the Campaigner-in-Chief’s message, delivered via the stadium’s Jumbotron, was a chorus of boos and cat-calls.

At todays’s Red Sox game, Obama is on big screen to recognize Fenway’s 100th anniversary, followed by loud boos. GO SOX! BYE BYE OBAMA!

One thing though, this is not just the first time in my adult time that I’m proud of the Boston fans. This was a Yankees v. Red Sox game and is the first time in my memory that the two sets of fans could agree on anything.

I was at bar when the Yankees and Red Sox were playing in the World Series and I saw the fans literally light each other on fire! I shit you not.

So Obama can, in fact, unite people – even people as virulently opposed to each other as the respective fans of the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. That’s a historic accomplishment.

Lifesavers In School

Posted in Humor, Society on April 21st, 2012

LifesaversOnce upon a time in America, not truly too long ago, candy and other snacks weren’t forbidden in our schools. Indeed, not only were students allowed to bring such dangerous contraband to school, teachers often handed such obesity-causing agents to their pupils.

Sometimes teachers even incorporated the now-forbidden treats into their lesson plans.

This, upon occasion, caused problems that even the FLOTUS’ food police couldn’t have expected…

A kindergarten teacher chose to use Lifesavers as a teaching tool to instruct her young charges in the various flavors of fruit available to them, the color coding of the original five-flavors of the candies being considered standardized and effective.

She handed out the candies to your students and the quickly began to identify the flavors by the colors of the individual candies.

  • Red = Cherry
  • Yellow = Lemon
  • Green = Lime
  • Orange = Orange

Note: Off-white / Pineapple was determined not to be age-appropriate and was forcibly removed from the teacher’s lesson plan under the direction of the federal government.

Then the teacher handed them honey-flavored Lifesavers. None of the students could successfully identify the flavor.

The teacher said, “I’ll give you all a little clue. It’s what your mother sometimes calls your father.”

One little girl’s eyes widened in horror and she spit the candy out of her mouth, exclaiming, “Oh my God! They’re assholes!”

The teacher had to leave the room at that point.

And please! Before any of the slightly younger and more properly educated readers start complaining, remember that this is an old joke. Back then the unenlightened school teachers were not properly chastened for using such horribly gendered and heteronormative prejudicial and bigoted terms such as “Mother” and “Father.”

And again, please! This is an old joke. The child in question wasn’t removed from the class and her parents’ weren’t brought up on charges for her wildly inappropriate and Christofascist violation of the Separation of Church and State by mentioning God on public property.

Just enjoy the joke as you can. Humor can, after all, be a lifesaver. 😉

Occupy The Protocols

Posted in Politics on April 20th, 2012

Since the mobs’ inception the rabble of OWS have repeatedly denied the antisemitism that makes up a large part of the emotional foundation of the neo-Socialist “movement.” I think this recent image from the group’s Facebook page for their Tampa, FL cell puts paid to those denials.

I’m just surprised that the rabble of OWS haven’t been openly quoting from Protocols of the Learned Elder of Zion since they would fit perfectly with OWS’ core beliefs of Socialism and class warfare.

It’s a simple fact that throughout history all Socialist and Communist movements have been predicated upon antisemitism, just as it is a simple fact that the Liberals and Progressives have internalized antisemitism in the last three decades.

The Lonely Homeless

Consider for a moment the homeless. Especially consider any one of the estimated 107,000 (0.035% of US population) chronically homeless within the borders of America.

Homeless, Hungry, Sick, and Tired – He Has No one

Why are this small number of people chronically living on the streets? The answer to that question may have greater importance for society than for these individuals.

At 0.035% of the American problem, the chronically homeless are hardly a national emergency and often get lost in the noise of homeless statistics.

The US Flag Code

Posted in Humor, Politics, Society on April 19th, 2012

There, upon occasion, arises complaints about people violating the US Flag Code, which is a long existent law which governs in what manner the American flag my be displayed. This most often occurs when Democrats choose to debase Old Glory by modifying it to show their favored son’s image upon it.

The thing is though that Americans don’t understand that the US Flag Code also forbids using the American Flag as a garment.

Title 4, Chapter 1, § 8 – Respect for Flag

(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker’s desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

And let’s be honest; does anyone really want to prevent this or even discourage it in any way shape or fashion?

A Crime Worthy Of Saluting?

Americans love the flag and they love wearing it, something that is expressly forbidden by the US Flag Code as much as any other violation of that statute is.

US Code Title 4, Chapter 1, § 8, Paragraph (d) Forbids This

Since the Flag Code is, and has been for generations, more apparent through its lack of observance in many ways both disrespectful and delightful, I believe we need to rein in our outrage just a tad on the matter lest we fall victim to rank hypocrisy.

At a bare minimum, let’s not cite the Flag Code when we’re complaining about people desecrating the flag in various politically and ideologically motivated manners – unless we’re equally willing to forbid the American Flag Bikini and other sexy outfits featuring Old Glory.
