Reconquista del Arizona

Posted in Politics, Society on December 11th, 2007

Arizona State Flag.jpgAfter years of turning a blind eye to illegal immigration and illegal hiring practices that essentially enslave illegal immigrant workers, Phoenix, AZ has taken the first significant step of la reconquista de Arizono – the reconquest of Arizona. American’s have started to take back the state of Arizona.

There are estimated to be 579,000 illegals in the state of Arizona, making up 12 percent of the state’s work force, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. The reconquest of Arizona by America will take a long time, but we’ve started at last.

Before December 3, 2007 the Phoenix Police Department was prohibited from contacting either the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE) or the Border Patrol when they apprehended a criminal who was suspected of being an illegal alien except under special circumstances. Previously Police Operations Order 1.4 prevented local Phoenix law enforcement from contact the ICE or Border Patrol except in specially dictated circumstances. This has caused Phoenix, AZ to become a “Sanctuary City”.

It took the shooting death of of a Phoenix Police officer by an illegal immigrant from Mexico to get Phoenix’s Mayor Phil Gordon (D) to start revising the antiquated Operations Order 1.4.

When it was written, it was right for local law enforcement and our community. But it was written in another time – and it was based on the premise that the federal government would fulfill all its responsibilities regarding immigration enforcement. Obviously, that has changed.

Mayor Phil Gordon

Mayor Gordon has revised the antiquated policy and it is being reviewed now by former U.S. Attorney Paul Charlton, former U.S. Attorney Jose Rivera, former Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods and former Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley. They have been asked to make their decision by December 31.

As you would be wise to expect, the pro-immigrant and Hispanic communities are in an uproar over this. Some of their more vocal members have even accused Phoenix’s mayor of being in the pay of “Minutemen, Nazis, and KKK!” Despite their protests and the 500,000+ criminals backing them, I don’t believe these invaders can keep their hold on the state of Arizona once America decides to take it back.

So…since a battle cry should be able to be understood by the enemy – Reconquista del Arizona!

More On Earmarks

Posted in 2008 Election, Politics on December 10th, 2007

Hillary Clinton According to a report from the LA Times, since becoming New York’s junior Senator in 2001, Hillary Clinton has provided $500 million of earmarks that have specifically benefited 59 corporations. Approximately 64% of those corporations have provided funds to her campaigns through donations made by employees, executives, board members or lobbyists. Since Clinton arrived in the Senate, she has collected in excess of $1 million from earmark beneficiaries and their associates.

Clinton’s staff has maintained that she used the earmark privilege effectively for her constituents and denied any connection between her legislative action and campaign contributions.

In total Clinton has earmarked more than $2.3 billion in federal appropriations for projects in New York since her election to the Senate, much of it for public works projects funded in conjunction with fellow Democratic Sen. Charles E. Schumer and others in the New York congressional delegation.

Sick Vick – 0 and 23

Posted in Society on December 10th, 2007

Michael Vick - Herpes infected, dog killing ghetto thug According to a CNN report Michael “Sick” Vick has been sentenced to 23 months in a federal prison for financing a dogfighting ring and helping to kill the dogs that did not perform well. The punishment was meted out at the end of a 90-minute sentencing hearing in federal court in Richmond, Virginia.

The ghetto thug appropriately received his sentence dressed in a black-and-white striped prison suit. He offered his apologies to his family and to U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson. Judge Hudson was unmoved to sympathy.

You need to apologize also to the millions of young people who look up to you! I’m convinced it was not a momentary lack of judgment on your part. You were a full partner.

— Judge Hudson

The judge added that he wasn’t sure Vick had fully accepted responsibility for his actions. The judge handed down 23 month prison sentence, which was significantly longer than the sentence of 12 to 18 months that were recommended by federal prosecutors but less than half of the 5 years Vick could have been sentenced to.

Say goodbye, Vick! You’re down for 23 months in a federal prison. I’m hoping the other inmates treat you the way you deserve, but if they don’t, the state of Virginia has stated they intend to file their own charges against you.

His Dark Materials

Posted in Philosophy, Religion, Society on December 8th, 2007

Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass) have been getting a lot of attention. Many Christians are up in arms over the anti-Christian and supposedly atheistic theme of the the trilogy. Now that the first novel, The Golden Compass, is a major motion picture the rancor has increased.

Why are these Christians so upset? It’s simple – they’re right in the thought that Pullman’s His Dark Materials is intended to be both anti-Christian church (anti-Catholic to be more specific) and atheistic. Generally reliable sources confirm that Pullman wrote the works to promote atheism in the same way that C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia promoted Christianity. Pullman’s trilogy is in admitted fact a reworking of Milton’s classic 17th-century poem Paradise Lost into a children’s tale.

I’m Pagan so the anti-Christian church theme doesn’t particularly bother me. I’m not thrilled with the atheistic message contained in the works, but I feel that intelligent readers can see more of the author’s bitterness and disillusionment than of any basis for denying the existence of some form of divinity.

That doesn’t mean I believe that His Dark Materials is suitable reading material for children and many young teens. I firmly believe that the works were egregiously miscategorized. The material is these works is far too complex, dark, and grim for children.

The villains are on par with any of literature’s worst and the books show the actions of those villains with garish details – acts that make the most hideous techniques employed at GITMO pale in comparison. This, combined with the near constant failure, setback and grief that the young heroes experience despite their best efforts, makes the books unsuitable in my opinion for younger readers. I don’t think that children need to read stories that unrelentingly highlight that all plans can fail and that sometimes there are no good choices.

To sum it up – I thought the books were a good read – for adults!
