Americans Want Better

Posted in 2008 Election on April 23rd, 2008

Wednesday, April 23, 2008, John McCain demanded the North Carolina Republican Party withdraw an advertisement criticizing Democrat Barack Obama over his controversial pastor. He made it clear that, while he couldn’t force the North Carolina Republican Party to comply and that he couldn’t control their actions, there was no room for such things in his campaign.

Americans want better. I understand that it moves numbers, negative ads and all that, but that doesn’t mean it’s right.

–Sen. John McCain
Republican Presidential Nominee

McCain had previously asked the North Carolina Republican Party not to air the 30 second ad that attacks Democratic North Carolina gubernatorial candidates Richard Moore and Beverly Perdue for endorsing Obama, citing the Illinois senator’s judgment in supporting Rev. Wright of Trinity UCC and calling Obama “too extreme for North Carolina.”

McCain has said that he wanted to run a respectful campaign. It seems he means it.

From Laugh Lines at the New Yorkt Times:

Only in America can a 46-year-old black man who just finished paying off his student loans be called “elitist,” a 60-year-old woman who with her husband has earned $100 million dollars call herself “middle class,” and a 71-year-old man who has received government paychecks his entire adult life call himself an “outsider.”

The above is so sadly true. It’s also hilariously funny if you’ve the right mindset to appreciate it.

Obama’s Race Speech

Posted in 2008 Election, Society on March 18th, 2008

Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. - Pastor, Bigot, IdiotI’m fairly sure that everyone in the US who’s not deaf has heard a lot about Trinity UCC’s retiring senior Pastor, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.’s radically anti-American and racist speeches and diatribes. You’d have to work diligently and relentlessly to maintain any semblance of ignorance on the subject.

Few people in America are now indifferent to Wright.

It’s no surprise that Wright’s ongoing hatred of “White America” has had a negative impact on Sen. Barack Obama’s bid for the Democratic Party’s US presidential nomination. I had even posted about this back in July, 2007. In an attempt to mitigate the damage to his campaign Sen. Obama has publicly condemned Wright’s bigotry and distanced himself from his former pastor.

Obama has gone a step further though…
