Reflections From a Murky Pond

Periodically, the Muslims try to build masjids where the American people don’t want them to. A classic example of that would be their callous and insensitive attempt to build one at Ground Zero. This invariably causes outrage and attempts, normally failed, to prevent these Islamic temples from being built.

Perhaps, we Americans should both show and induce a greater tolerance and not protest the Muslims building masjids wherever they wish to…

I am truly perplexed that so many of my friends are against another mosque being built in Toronto. I think it should be the goal of every Canadian to be tolerant regardless of their religious beliefs. Thus the mosque should be allowed, in an effort to promote tolerance.

That is why I also propose that two nightclubs be opened next door to the mosque, thereby promoting tolerance from within the mosque. We could call one of the clubs, which would be gay, “The Turban Cowboy”, and the other a topless bar called “You Mecca Me Hot.”

Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork, and adjacent to that an open-pit barbecue pork restaurant, called “Iraq o’ Ribs.”

Across the street there could be a lingerie store called “Victoria Keeps Nothing Secret”, with sexy mannequins in the window modeling the goods.

Next door to the lingerie shop there would be room for an adult sex toy shop, “Koranal Knowledge”, its name in flashing neon lights, and on the other side a liquor store called “Morehammered.”

All of this would encourage Muslims to demonstrate the tolerance they demand of us, so their mosque issue would not be a problem for others

While the above was said sarcastic jest, it’s a great and legal idea. Instead of trying, without any legal basis, to prevent these Islamist centers from being built upon our soil, let’s exercise our own rights and privilege to build what we wish around them in order to forcibly induce tolerance – and a proper silence – in the cultist of the Religion of Peace. 😉

It’s a no-lose idea. The Muslims will either move out, be forced to show tolerance to “Infidels,” or will act out in a manner that gives Americans incontestable reason to burn the vermin out.

Some things do not change in the course of the steady, often plodding, steps of history. Even as the centuries pass, what was true then is true now. Perhaps this is nowhere so true as in the lack of progression of the Muslims.

The only thing that has really changed is that we’ve put aside the 19th century nomenclature of “Mohammedanism” and now call the cult Islam. All else about it has remain frozen in time and consciousness.

Liberals and Progressives make a lot of claims about the level and nature of religiosity in America. As can be expected whenever these Leftists make any claim about the nature of America, these are spurious things with little or no grounding in observable fact.

One of their most often made spurious claims is that America is not a Christian nation or that it is no longer a Christian nation.

Back on June 28, 2006, Obama infamously made this a bold and bald statement, though he did nod his head metaphorically to the Christian foundation of America.

Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation – at least, not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.

Now, to plagiarize Obama, let me be clear. In the full context of Obama’s “Call to Renew” speech what he said was neither horrific nor technically factually inaccurate. His lie was one of false equivalency and demanding that a nation be 100% homogeneous in order to be something.

Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation – at least, not just. We are also a Jewish nation (1.7%), a Muslim nation (0.6%), a Buddhist nation (0.7%), and a Hindu nation (0.4%), and a nation of nonbelievers (1.6%). Hence, Obama’s chosen others manage to total 5% of the adult population of America.

One must also consider the fact that a significant percentage of those who are not Christian per se are followers of faiths that are de facto Christian in nature such as the various Unitarians (Other faiths) and many, if not most, of the “religious unaffiliated.” Leaving official denominations and sectarianism aside, at least 80% of America’s population is Christian or so near to be so as to not make a difference.

Like it or not, by both history and statistics, America is a Christian nation. Any claim to contrary is spurious. Non-Christians like myself are statistical outliers in America.

More and more of late Evolution and Creationism are making the news once again in America. What both amazes and amuses me is that the current crop of arguers seem to think this is a new thing. It isn’t. The only thing that has changed is which side currently has the legal upper hand in the argument over Evolution vs. Creationism.

What’s most amazing to me is that the Evolutionists act like evolution is accepted fact and that it’s only fringe, “extremist” Christians who believe in- or accept the possibility of Creationism.

Much like the fallacy that the Evolution vs. Creationism is new, the belief that in America evolution is accepted fact and that it’s only fringe, “extremist” Christians who are Creationists is a self-serving fantasy of the Evolutionists. In point of replicable, scientific fact, as of 2012: 46% of Americans believe in the Creationist view that God created humans in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years; 32% believe that humans evolved, but with God’s guidance, i.e., Intelligent Design; and only 15% say humans evolved, but that God had no part in the process. These figures have been largely unchanging over the last 30 years of polling.

As one can see, within America, the Godless view of Evolution is itself something of a non-survival trait and, hence, an evolutionary dead end. 😉

It must also be noted that Evolution wasn’t even close to the de facto science curriculum in American high schools until the beginning parts of the mid-20th century. Indeed, by 1925 a number of states had passed, and more had introduced, laws outlawing the teaching of Darwin’s Theory of Evolution and these laws, by and large, weren’t overturned until 1960s. Additionally, since the 1960s and through today, various states have enacted laws, with admittedly mixed results, to bring the teaching of Evolution more in line with the normative viewpoints and beliefs of the American people.

So it’s both amazing and amusing to me the the Evolutionist think this is a new argument and/or that they hold the majority opinion on the matter. If anything, they should be damned glad that they’re allowed to teach it all instead of complaining whenever it sought to teach alternatives to Evolution alongside of it.

NOTE: For the record, my personal views fall in an odd place between Intelligent Design and Evolution. In other words, I am a soul who has a body and I’m not sold on the idea that the God(s) took any more hand in designing that body other than to ensure that it would evolve into a form that could make the soul’s desires tangible, material, and enactable. Then, I believe that all science is theology.
