Awaiting The Rapture

The Rapture is an eschatological event during which Jesus Christ returns to Earth for His Church and believers and takes them up to Heaven where they will rejoin their dead loved ones and live forever in their resurrected bodies beside their Lord.

The Rapture

So very many Christians, especially the Evangelical sects, believe that we are in the End Days and that the Rapture will soon come about. They await being lifted up into Heaven by their Lord, Jesus with anticipation and joy.

What if they’re waiting in vain? Not because they were wrong in their beliefs and that the Rapture would never happen, but because it had already happened and they weren’t number among the tiny handful of people on Earth who weren’t so steeped in sin as to be disqualified and doomed to eternal damnation.

Really! Look at the full criteria for boarding that final flight. What are we really talking about? 50 people? 40 people? 30 people? 20 people? Perhaps as few as 10 rising up in salvation into the heavens? Who’d notice it or believe the accounts of anyone who did?

Yeah, that’d be a pisser wouldn’t it? 😉

The only requirement for salvation for Christians is to accept Jesus as your personal saviour.
That’s it. Simple price of admission.
It is accepted that all humans are sinners, and we are not required in any way to be “non-sinners” in order to be saved and raptured.
This is the gift of God, through the sacrifice of His Son. Everything else is just fascist religious crap.

  2. Jay Burns Says:

Well I suppose what you are saying is possible. However, if the premise of the rapture is correct, we have to assume the what the bible says is to follow is also correct. Those things would include; Rise of the anti-christ, 7 year tribulation, mark of the beast, 7 seals (plagues, satan falling to earth,.. etc).

Then at the end of the 7 years there is a great battle to end all battles between the forces of heaven and earth.

You may be right, but if you are hold on. We’re all going for a ride.

    Charles,

Perhaps conversion is all that is needed, but I somehow doubt that. I’m guessing that “accepting Jesus as your personal savior” entails more than just believing in Him and His mercy. There’s just too much talk or sin, Hell, and damnation, in the Bible for that.

    Jay,

Yep. If one part of the eschatological prophecies in the Bible is thought to be correct, then the rest should be was well. That would mean that we’re in for a rough ride.

One note though – There is some theological debate on the timing of the Rapture. Some say it will be pre-Tribulation; some say it will be mid-Tribulation; some say it will be post-tribulation.

    All,

This post was really meant as sarcastic humor as opposed to theological pedantry. I’ve seen enough people that were full of hubris and self-righteousness who were convinced of both the Rapture and their own salvation that I occasionally post things in an attempt to make people think and question the security of their afterlife. 😉

  4. Jay Burns Says:

Yeah, I followed the purpose of your post. I also almost brought up the pre-mid-post rapture point myself, but thought it would muddy the waters too much.

    Hi Jonolan;

Jesus was also reported as saying this generation shall not pass before it happened.

There was a lot of stuff that happened around 70 AD in that part of the world which could be construed as the end times.

Then the world wars of the last century.

Today it could be overpopulation that causes our eventual demise, along with all the garbage we humans place on this world from construction to trash.

    There are too many poor.

I believe the number going to the promised land will be 144,000, and many of the dead till know probably have heaven filled up, leaving us out.

In the end, we all die anyway.

    Hi jonolan;

Maybe not all of it is BS.

Maybe there is some truth to Revelations. I see Social Security ir running out of coin this year.

There is no more coin for anything, borrowing and printing money is the order of the day. The world is hanging on by a thread.

When the US dollar falls on the world stage, there is nothing to take its place. It’s going to get ugly out there.

    You have to wonder.

  7. Personal Failure Says:

Christ returns to Delaware . . . one raptured.

  8. jonolan Says:

Ah, another drive-by from Personal Failure. I should have guessed those with Angry Godless Syndrome (AGS) would show up fairly soon.

But…At least the link was humorous and quite on point to the post at hand.

    Thanks. 😉

    Jonolan,
I appreciate your passion. I, too, believe that one CAN know the eternal state by what we ready throughout scripture, however NOONE knows exactly when the rapture will occur and anyone who states that are positive about the TIMING should be considered speculative.

However, I understand that this was for humor sake and while I love to laugh, the underlying issue is something dear to my heart. Alas, thankyou for bringing awareness to the subject 🙂

Thanks for stopping in and commenting, Order In the Quart. 🙂

My humor is often like that. It may generate a chuckle or two, but it normally has, at its core, some issue or subject that I feel needs attention or reflection. This has upon more than one occasion undermined the humor and led to serious conversations and/or arguments.
