The Irony, It Burns
Sometimes the irony, it burns.
It burns hot with the all-consuming fires of unpleasant and uncomfortable truths – truths that the purveyors of lies hate with a black, bleeding passion and the believers of those lies dread being forced to acknowledge.
The Liberals’ position on illegal immigration is one such burning, caustic irony that, will turn their dreams to ash if fully exposed to the masses – assuming, that is, that those masses could bring themselves to accept it.
Whenever forced to provide a measurable reason why America’s borders shouldn’t be secured and the illegals already hiding within them be expelled the reason that they always supple is that illegal immigrants are needed for America’s economy because they will work for substandard wages and in substandard conditions.

Go ahead, if you can stomach talking to them, and force a Liberal to give an answer with more substance than “Open Borders”, “Right to Travel,” or the ever-ready “Racist!” or “Nationalist!”
According to the Liberals we as nation need illegal immigrants, mostly the Hispanic ones, in order to maintain our standard of living through using them as some form of neo- or quasi-slave labor – especially in when it comes to agriculture, factory work, and domestic maintenance.
Liberals’ Answers
- Who will pick the crops?
- They do jobs that Americans won’t do!
- Illegal Immigrants are part of the backbone of our economy.
Those are immensely ironic answers from a group of people who tout themselves as being the guardians of civil rights fighting the long, hard war against “America’s ingrained and institutional racism.” It’s an amazingly ironic position for a group of people who claim to be the champions of workers rights.
Yet, these are the answers that the Liberals keep giving – over, and over, and over again.

You do acknowledge, don’t you, that in using the term “liberal” you have limited it to the general perspective of a slice of the Democratic Party and herein the argument seems to have merit.
MANY “liberals,” however, reject the “third-wayism” of centrist, “blue-dog” Democrats and can be found in the Green, Socialist and Communist Parties . . . even a few in the CPC, and with THESE groups your assertion would find a far different audience and type of “liberal”.
For myself, briefly, I am informed not from political, nationalistic, or indeed quasi-ethnocentric fear but rather a more “spiritualized” founding that generally asks; where does YOUR God see borders when he looks from upon high?
As a “liberal” (but not a Democrat), I have more socially nuanced perspectives that also feed my vast criticism of American immigration policy and the CURRENT and historic “dominant paradigm’s” frantic desire to sustain hegemony in a chaniging world; past, present and future — but this forum may be rather constrained to fully ellaborate.

Phillip,
I used Liberal to describe the mainstream Left within America which make up the vast majority of that meta-group and ALL of the important elements therein.
Those other sub-groupings you describe are not worth considering in “the reality zone” because they are politically irrelevant. They cannot effect America’s policies because they are so far out of the limits of America that they are doomed to shriek in vain.
I’ll give you this though, they would certainly give different answers because they seek to destroy the systems that are the basis for this happening in the first place.
