Best Served Old

When one gets to be my age, if one has friends who are older than you, it’s not unlikely that they’re retired. This can be interesting because their lifestyles are so different from those of us still in the workforce.

I once asked an older, retired friend of mine how he kept busy since his days were free. His reply was hilarious.

The other day my wife, Mary and I went into town and visited a shop. When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket.

We went up to him and I said, “Come on, man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?”

He ignored us and continued writing the ticket.

So I called him an “asshole”.

He glared at me and started writing another ticket; this one for having worn-out tires.

So Mary called him a “shithead”.

He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing more tickets. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.

Just then our bus arrived, and we got on it and went home.

We try to have a little fun each day now that we’re retired and we always try to pick cars with OBAMA 2012 bumper stickers because stupid should be painful and revenge is a dish best served old.

Seems like an enjoyable enterprise and one that has a certain use in punishing those who can’t or won’t think of what’s best for the nation whose borders they’re allowed to reside within.

Always remember that old age and experience will almost always beat youth and skill and that, in those occasions when it doesn’t, the aged have had many years to refine and perfect their sense of vengeance. 😉
