Why I Drink

Posted in Humor, Society on December 11th, 2011

Seasonal depression isn’t just for bipedal people. Our four-footed family members are often effected by it as well.

Why I Drink
And This Is Why I Drink

Come on, people! What are you thinking? Do you know about the growing “catnip problem” in inner-city felines?

OK; I know this can go too far. Believe me, I know. I’ve been there and done that.

Solomon Islands monkey-tailed skink (Corucia zebrata)Years and years ago, my first wife and I bred and raised, among many other species, Solomon Islands Monkey-Tailed Skinks (Corucia zebrata) and they roamed freely throughout our house.

Year one they commandeered the Christmas tree and it stayed up year-round from that point.

OK, there’s no real doubt that Gov. Perry’s recent campaign commercial was needlessly hyperbolic. He was only wrong in the extremity of the situation though.

I Said Christmas
Which One Do You Think Will Be Suspended?

Given the levels of political correctness now demanded of the majority of students and the lawfare and paper terrorism engaged in by the Godless over any public expression of religiosity, the rather funny cartoon may well be prophetic.

‘Tis no skin off my nose though. I’m Pagan. Now, when they figure out that Blessed or Merry Yuletide are religious sayings as well, then we’ll have issues.

If you think I’m raving, I remind you that a North Carolina grade school recently suspended a none year-old for sexual harassment because someone overheard him tell another student that a teacher was cute. When that can happen, anything can.

O Christmas Frog

Posted in Humor, Society, The Environment on November 7th, 2011

Well, that’s not something you see every day, or even every holiday season – the rare Christmas Frog.

Christmas Frog - You just know that PETA will freak
Rana Tannenbaumensis – The Christmas Frog

The Christmas Frog (Rana tannenbaumensis) is rare these days due to religious and ideological destruction but can still be found in North America and Western Europe and was once part of Christmas celebrations.

O Christmas Frog, O Christmas Frog,
Your bellies glow delight us!
They’re warm when summer days are bright,
They’re warm when winter snow is white.
O Christmas Frog, O Christmas Frog,
Your bellies glow delight us!

OK, OK – It’s a tree frog that has swallowed a Christmas light, mistaking it for a firefly. :-P

Of course, if this pic goes viral, how long do you think it’ll be before PETA winds themselves up and starts protesting outdoor Christmas lights because of the potential for frog’s swallowing them? They’ll probably start a “Swamp Puppies” pseudo-education campaign reminiscent of their Sea Kittens propaganda.

So to preemptively strike and forestall any attempt by PETA to move in that direction, I present you with a sampling of the Swap Puppy:

Canis Palus – Swamp Puppies

~*~

NOTE: For those who might be interested, the frog in the image is a Cuban Tree Frog (Osteopilus septentrionalis) and the photo was taken in August, 2009 by James Snyder in his backyard in southern Florida.

After the photo Mr. Snyder pulled the light out of the frog’s mouth and he was fine, having suffered no ill effects from ingesting the light-bulb.
