Senator Al Franken

On Tuesday, June 2, 2009 the Minnesota Supreme Court installed Al Franken as the newest US Senator for that state.  Ousted Republican incumbent, Norm Coleman, finally conceded the battle for the disputed US Senate seat.

Senator Al-Franken - Damn it! I'm a beautiful jackass and people love me, at least a few of them
Franken: I’m smart enough. And doggone it I’m crooked enough!

Senator Al Franken (D-MN) seemed pleased with his victory, ill-gotten and undeserved or not.

Just please, please, please promise America that, no matter what other depravity and evil Sen. Franken commits in the US Senate, we won’t ever have to see him on C-SPAN reprising his Stuart Smalley character – or worse, this!

Senator Al Franken (D-MN): That’s just stinkin’ thinkin!

I suppose it’s fitting for someone like Al Franken to be the one that gives the Democrats a filibuster-proof 60 seat majority in the US Senate. He’s the perfect punchline to a very bad joke…

Its interesting to see that Democrats view a fillibuster proof senate as a high point. The fact that, aside from the Supreme Court, the federal government is controlled by a single party is being played down in the media while quietly praised by many Democrats has much to be desired. I am sure if the shoe was on the other foot, the Replicans would be doing the same, but that doesn’t change the fact that much of humanity fails to see the evil in a situation when it is their team that is winning.

Well…It seems that everything the the GOP ever did that the Dems whined and/or ranted about is OK now that it’s the Dems doing it.

Even more than the GOP after Clinton’s terms, the current Dems are pushing hard for a punitive regime and are doing so at the expense of America.

NOTICE: I said, “even more than the GOP…” They were guilty of it as well, but under the current Liberal / Socialist regime, the situation has accelerated and devolved far more than would be typical of political reprisals.

I guess the MNSC’s unanimous decision is wrong because you, with your impeccable credentials, said so.

And your unsupported statement that the regime is pursuing a punitive regime beggars belief. While it is true that the Democrats are working to reverse Bush’s legacy with a vengeance, the cost/benefits could be debated. Whereas recklessly going after Clinton did nothing for the country, and took up the media’s, the politicians’, and the President’s attentions, to the detriment of America.

Whether it is evil or good or whatever is a matter of perspective. The progressives would argue that a GOP capable of filibuster is inherently evil. Whatever the case, simply branding it ‘evil’ is a superficial statement. And now the GOP is whining about it. Saying ‘with 60 votes, the Dems could theoretically overcome GOP filibusters’ is much more accurate. And you forget the Blue Dogs. Lucky the Democrats actually have more than a handful of moderates.

Pursuing the politics of personal destruction, then turning and whining about it when the other side does it, is a sign of moral hypocrisy. Judge not, lest ye be judged, please.

Your are certainly deluded. You are, however right on a couple of points:

    1) Starr’s rambling and pernicious assault on the Clintons, while starting off properly, ended in a witch-hunt that harmed the country.

    2) Whether it is evil or good that the Dems rule both houses of Congress is a matter of perspective. An American would call it evil; I cannot speak to what the Liberals would call it…
