Homeland Insecurity
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was angered by the fact that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents this week conducted their first work-site raid since President Barack Obama took office.
She angry because arresting illegal immigrants violated her and President Obama’s policies regarding immigration.
Sean Smith, a spokesman at Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., said that Napolitano is demanding answers. Napolitano herself said, “I want to get to the bottom of this” and is planning on conducting an investigation of the February 24th raid.
Strange, the last time I looked into it enforcing US immigration policies and arresting and deporting illegal immigrants was the sworn duty of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. Of course I erroneously believed that it was the sworn duty of the Homeland Security Secretary to support them in those efforts.
So… the person in charge of US Homeland Security and therefor U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) regards arresting 28 illegal immigrants at Yamato Engine Specialists factory in Bellingham, Wa. as a violation of the policies of the new federal government? This is not something that any American should feel the least bit comfortable about.
Sadly it seems that National Council of La Raza – the political arm of MEChA – has more to be happy about than just their recent $473,000 “not-an-earmark” in the Stimulus Act. They’ve apparently got the sympathy of the Homeland Security Secretary as well.

Excellent post you go directly to the heart of the matter and then don’t let go. I am extremely bothered that Obama feels he can decide on his own to ignore a major portion of settled law. But it has long been the case that congress wants open and unprotected borders. Congress has only ever taken any action in this area out of fear of losing their seats. There is,unfortunately, no desire in Washington for border security.

Sadly, there’s little real hope on this front. Both the Democrats and the republicans in office – for wildly disparate reasons, the relative merits of which are near pointless to debate since the outcome is the same either way – seem to want to have porous borders.
The republicans at least didn’t directly contradict our laws to further their agenda though, they just sought – to their shame and damnation – to change them.

The former governor of a state now dealing with Mexican drug cartels entering the state, kidnapping and killing people. Homeland Security is a great place for her. She’s a token appointment and that’s a shame since her token could have been better spent in a number of other positions

Yeah, most of comments I’ve seen from AZ residents indicated that they were glad to see the back of Napolitano, but that they were worried about the damage she would continue to do to the state – and now the rest of country – as the Homeland Security Secretary.
