Wow... it didn't take but one minute on your website to see you too have misused the English language... now, have you ever called anyone dumb before? You've been misrepresenting yourself... naughty, naughty.

"Thanks for stopping by, Akiyo-san and thanks for the heads up on my spelling."

So, I stand by my original comment on my blog, "McCain pals around with dumb people". Now, I didn't say ALL dumb people, cause there are a lot of those on every political side.

Strangely, this notion of 'what is dumb' falls nicely into your blog on racism and prejudice. If one can say Obama "pals" around with terrorists (like after he goes clubbing with Oprah he's plotting to blow up schools), then one can say McCain pals around with stupid people (since Joe the Plumber lied about his name, occupation, and likened Obama to Sammy Davis, Jr tap dancing). It is also, in my estimation, that if you surround yourself with too many dumb people (let's just say dumb people are any of us who don't think before we speak... so sure, I have be dumb on occasion)... that if you surround yourself with too many dumb people they can make you yourself look dumb.

So anchoring one of the key points of McCain's debate on a self-serving fudger can have an impact that common folks, like Joe Simple and Jane the Booze Fest, may think McCain doesn't have all his ducks in a row... that he may follow the lead of people with an agenda... they may think McCain doesn't do the proper research... Joe and Jane may want to vote for the smart talker in the room.

In terms of race, by aligning Obama as a terrorist or someone who is down with terrorists has racist implications all over it. McCain's emphasis on Obama being "different" and views America as "imperfect" and his supporters stand up righteously saying he's "an Arab" a "Muslim" and some say they want to kill him has bigotry written all over it. Bigotry against blacks, Arabs, Muslims, etc. If it was Hillary Clinton, would they say she's an Arab, a secret Muslim, imperfect, not to be trusted, different, and a woman who pals around with terrorists?

This is about brown people. The McCain campaign is trying to drop all those hints that basically, brown people are not to be trusted.

Good lord, we invaded a country that never went on any talk show asking for Christianity or American Democracy or anything American... and we invaded them freely cause most Americans can't tell one brown Muslim from another.

So, to sum it all up... Invading Iraq has enough odor of racism to stink for quite some time... and McCain's campaign fueling the bigoted notions on Obama is racist as well.

Thanks for stopping by, Akiyo-san and thanks for the heads up on my spelling.

We run into a lot of problems with they “don’t mean to be racist.” Sometimes intent DOES matter, other times it doesn't. And there's the issue of defining what is an example of racism and who gets to decide that.

Yes, I agree that of course all sorts of people can be racist...including people that aren't in power. There's also latent racism that a lot of people ignore just because it's not blatant or they "don't mean to be racist."

BTW, I'm just nitpicking but you misspelled "Therefore" in the second sentence.

Obama's church says

Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements.
These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:

Commitment to God
Commitment to the Black Community
Commitment to the Black Family
Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System.
The Pastor as well as the membership of Trinity United Church of Christ is committed to a 10-point Vision:

We saw this in the whole University of Delaware debacle, and in the end their Cultural revolution wannabe program was forced to be dismantled because it was a clear case of attempted thought control.

@ anonymous: I see racism directed at whites all the time, but it seems to be so embedded into the society on the strength of this warped ideology--it's OK to make anti-white remarks, but if you substitute any other group in there, there are loud cries of outrage--that many people don't notice it at all.

And I doubt white people are "afraid" of the oppressor label--they have confronted the sins of their ancestors and openly addressed them. However, I think they are fed up with being made to be the only ones responsible for change.
